Villa In Top Five All Time Premier League Table

Villa In Top Five All Time Premier League Table

For those that doubt Villa's standing and heritage in the game, there is a nice quick illustration of where we've been, where we are at and where we are staying at: www.statto.com/football

The table is of the all times points in the Premier League and has Villa 5th just below the established (not for long we hope?!) top four of Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Thought it served as a timely reminder of the mighty claret and blues!

Amazing how a small club with no ambition like ours can be above the massive Spurs isn't it?!

If you look through all the final tables for the prem since its inception there is one very interesting fact to note, this idea of a "big four" is a myth. It's a media creation that just about everybody has fallen for, including the players and teams. Yes, the same teams are in the top 4 repeatedly but more often than not, until the 2003/2004 season, the top four usually contained other teams or at least one other. Since 2004 the only team to break into this group was Everton in 2005. Why was all the media attention then, on Everton for breaking into the top 4 "cartel" when no such group was established? So in reality we have has the same top 4 since 2006, three seasons, is that really a great dynasty to break down? No! Let's not only ignore but dispel this media myth created for it's darlings and show the world that football is always changing, it's just us fans that have short memories.

A pat on the back for the club, the players and managers who have played their part before. Lets now push on, and not be happy until in a few seasons time, we reach the pinacle.
