Majority Would Take 4th Place Over Cup Win

Majority Would Take 4th Place Over Cup Win

Vital Villa asked, in a poll suggested by industrial_musical:

Which would you prefer Villa to do?

Win the Uefa Cup?
Win the FA Cup?
Come 4th in the Premier League?
Any would do me nicely!

Quite amazingly 46% wanted to come 4th in the Premier League. 2nd used to be for losers, now we are all scrambling for 4th place and see that as success. How times have changed eh!?

Next up was 32% being just plain greedy (!) saying they'd like anything at all...!

That left 17% saying the UEFA Cup win and a bafflingly low 5% seeking out the FA Cup.

Our latest poll asks where you think we'll come in the UEFA Cup.

I'd of said the same 4 years ago, but the standard is so much higher in the CL than the UEFA Cup. it's really not worth it, unless you can spend 50-100 million the summer going into it. And replace the majority of your team.

But unlike Everton, EM. Villa can afford to spend 50-100 mil in the summer. Thanks!

Agree Everton Mike. Although we do have the funds but I'd still want to see Villa lift silverware and maybe build to CL. Surprised so many see the CL as better than lifting a cup!

Its the shambles the UEFA Cup is in - there is NO way that the 3rd place team in Champs League groups should go straight into UEFA Cup - teams like Rangers got knocked out early so why did they not drop down to UEFA Cup? If they are out they are out. Surely it causes problems with bookies as AC Milan, Valencia etc. are favourites but what if Barcelona, Roma or someone like that drops down after the group stages?? I think the Champions League should be Champions only with maybe a few runners up to pre-qualify to make an even 32 teams or whatever. The cup winners and teams who finish 2nd-6th then in the UEFA Cup.

Lets just remind ourselves (cause i like to say it) Villa won the european cup when you had to be CHAMPIONS to be in it. I would take the uefa cup and 5/6 place (last year was one of the few when 6th wasn't good enough) over finishing 4th. After all 4th is temporary trophies are history.

I said I would take any, as I would be happy with 4th, an FA Cup or the UEFA Cup. Any will do. I would rather the FA Cup than the UEFA as I want to go to Wembley, however I have a feeling we will win the UEFA this season.

I'd have been more interested in the poll if the choice of league position had been fifth instead of fourth. As seen by rangers run last season the UEFA cup has almost no prestige, for villa to continue to attract a superior calibre of player I say we'd be better off finishing fifth than wining UEFA.

deano.avfc Bookies will not be worried about a big team dropping into the UEFA as it means that the odds they have given punters will just drift longer, putting them in a nicer position. Also bookies are taking bets on any of the teams dropping down from the champions league now. http://www.oddschecker.com/football/uefa-cup
