CHRIS COOPER - VILLA PARK TO PARIS

Day 3 - Bon Voyage!

Today was the day I finally reached the south coast, and boarded the eurotrain through the tunnel into Calais.

Waking up this morning, I started to feel a few aches and pains - especially in my back and my left knee. Thankfully, today was a shorter day (66 miles), and I was due to arrive in France at around 4pm which would give me a good few hours to rest up.

Setting off at 8am, I made the journey south to Maidstone, my first target break, around 25 miles away.

This was aerobically the hardest stretch of my trip yet, with some real tough hills to get over. This was more like Yorkshire, scene of my training fields!

After Maidstone, life got a litle easier and eventually I started to feel as though I was rolling down towards Folkestone.

My first night in France is just outside Calais. So after getting my head around cycling on the right hand side of the road, I finally found my hotel.

Words cannot describe the hotel I am writing this from, but put it this way, I will most likely be sleeping on top of the bed sheets tonight!

Anyway, day 3 is completed and it's on to Paris.......

Don't forget our own fund raising attempt, currently standing at £1100. Hopefully a few more Villans will have a spare fiver to paypal over for the Trust?Raising Money For The Paul Birch Trust
