'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Andrei Arshavin Too Big For Villa? PAH!

According to the Daily Telegraph Villa have been told they have no chance of signing Zenit St Petersburg striker Andrei Arshavin as the player wants Champions League football.

His agent (boooo boooo!) Dennis Lacther said the 27-year-old Russian striker, who is also versatile and plays as a winger or attacking midfielder, would only consider offers from the 'big four' of the Premiership:

'Andrei would like to play in the Premier League but he will not accept an offer from clubs like Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Aston Villa.' Adding, 'There are only four British clubs he would play for and they are in the Champions League. It's not about money, it's about a team and professional ambition.'

Just as well we didn't want him then I'd suggest!?

You watch, none of the top four will move for him and then next quotes from the agent will be about how big Villa, Newcastle, Man City etc are! As one of the reporters on the Sky Sports Sunday Supplement asked a few weeks back, if he was THAT good would he really still be playing in the Russian league and not plying his trade somewhere amongst the top European clubs? Hmmm. Not that many have made the move successfully as yet have they?

Bet Villa haven't even considered him and yet his agent is still saying he wouldn't move to us! Is the January transfer window gossip starting to hot up already?!
The Fear
he's still at zenit! If he was that good , he'd be at Barcelona or a top 4 side. He'll be at Spurs before you know it!
krisvilla
wudnt come to us but would go spurs? makes sense! kinda wish he had gone there! fighting relegation and getting beat by the clubs hes far 2 good for! let him stay in russia another year tw@

This quote is ridiculously old. This was said before he didn't get offered anything from the big boys, and then had to plump for Spurs, who ironically couldn't afford him anyway. The guy doesn't even know English football, he just wanted glory or the London nightlife like his buddy Pavluchenko.

Well the lads got his head screwed on right then . there are only four teams in the prem. and villa need to spend another 100,000,000 millon just to get near
one match ban
Id have defoe or ashton (injury free) over him any day. arseface is good but he aint that good. No way is too good for us. Over-priced and overrated in my opinion

If he was that good someone would have paid the asking price. He is all hype on the back of 3 good games. Had anyone even heard of this 27 year old, prior to May?

Is this guy really all he's cracked up to be? Only seems to have made a name for himself relatively late on his career. I'm not well up on Russian football to be honest, but surely if he is all he's cracked up to be, he'd have been playing his football in Italy, Spain, or even Germany by now?

Agree with medzy. I'd prefer home grown talent any day of the week, as opposed to taking a major gamble on the likes of Andrei Arshavin.
