Chris Cooper - From Villa Park To Paris - Day 2

CHRIS COOPER - CHARITY BIKE RIDE FOR 'THE PAUL BIRCH TRUST'

VILLA PARK TO PARIS

DAY 2 BLOG

After serious thoughts on Saturday night, I decided to re-route Sunday's journey so I could pass through Chelsea, in the aim of raising a little more money from fellow Villa fans. So, after a hearty breakfast in Milton Keynes, I headed south towards London.

Winds were less furious today, but todays challenge was the rain. The rain started off pretty heavily, and then got worse. I stopped off in Elstree for a quick break and to re-fuel. 17 miles left to Chelsea, 37 miles left of the day.

Setting off from Elstree was nice and flat, however the rain was really falling now. The puddles were getting deaper on the sides of the roads, and also in the bottoms of my shoes! The sight of the first claret and blue colours on a passing bus give me a little encouragement.

After getting lost four or five times in London, a friendly taxi driver gave me directions to Stamford Bridge. On arrival, the police decided that taking my bike outside the turnstilles was too dangerous? They then took my bike into the security office and left me walking around the outside of the ground with my leggins and lycra on, and no bike - some very strange looks heading my way!

The fact that I had no bike, made me somewhat unrecognisable and this led to me raising a measly £44. Extra miles, extra traffic and London madness for £44! Oh well, every litle helps - once the Chelsea v Villa match kicked off, I made my final trip of the day down to Dartford, where wet day 2 was finally over.

Don't forget you can play your part in the fundraising: Surely today we can raise more than the 'measly £44' to set Chris back on track and add to the £1060 already raised on Vital Villa? Raising Money For The Paul Birch Trust

Hats off to you Chris. What an experience you're going through. Pity about the £44, but as you say, every little bit helps.
