Man of the Match v Litex Lovech

Man of the Match v Litex Lovech

Vital Villan, this time dressed up as 'group stages here we come' asked for your Man Of the Match vote v Litex Lovech.

Jeez, this is getting seriously boring... quite correct though! Yup, once again Stiliyan Petrov won the vote, this time with 38%

Moustapha Salifou, who I thought average at best I must admit, despite some very nice touches and some good passes, we lost the midfield battle and didn't enjoy the lions share of possession. However, the big man got 28% of the vote, so shows what I know!

Next up the nippy winger Wayne Routledge.

That left:

Harewood (6%)
Friedel (5%)
A. Young (4%)
Knight (3%)
L. Young (2%)
Cuellar (1%)
Shorey (1%)
Milner (1%)
Osbourne (1%)

Had to be the totally rejuvenated Stilyan Petrov. He really has become a very important cog in the wheel, surely one of the first name MON now puts onto the team sheet. Well played Stan. Long may your outstanding form continue.

What a comparison to the attitude shown by that other Celt, Shaun Maloney, during his days at Villa Park. Stilyan has been through the bad times, been disgracefully booed and jeered by his own supporters, yet never once complained, pleaded home-sickness, or wanted out. Far from it. He knuckled down, and got on with his job. Now he, and the club are reaping the rewards.
