'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Charity Begins At Villa Park... Apparently

Charity begins at Villa Park apparantly.

Villa fan Chris Cooper is to go on a small bike ride tomorrow. Coops has joined the Aston Villa Former Players Association as part of their events management team is to ride 500 miles from Villa Park to Paris. Blimey, I hope he has a comfy seat! He will be wearing club colours as he raises funds for the Paul Birch Trust. The ride will take 5 days and is set to raise funds for former Villa midfielder Birchey who is fighting bone cancer.

An independent trust fund has been set up by the Former Players Association to ensure a better quality of life for Paul and his 10-year-old daughter.

The Villa FPA are also inviting supporters to make donations. Cheques made payable to Paul Birch Trust, should be sent to Paul Birch Trust, Aston Villa FC, Villa Park, Birmingham, B6 6HE.

And as if one Charitable Villan wasn't enough, Villa legend Ian Taylor tomorrows makes a mad jump out of a plane. Still, only 10 000 feet Ian! The fans favourite is doing a freefall skydive tomorrow following the postponement last month due to bad weather. Ian wasn't available to find out if he was praying for hurricanes again tomorrow!!!!!

He is doing this to raise money for the club's official charity partner, Acorns Children's Hospice. For info on Acorns: www.acorns.org.uk and on the partnership with Villa www.acorns.org.uk/astonvilla

The dive takes place at the Skydiving Centre at Hinton Airfield in Brackley between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.

Ian said: 'It is going to be amazing and I'm feeling fine at the moment - but I'm sure I'll be nervous on the day. The main thing is that the money goes to a really worthwhile charity. I was so impressed with the football club when it announced its partnership with Acorns so I am delighted to be doing my little bit to help.'

I've sent him good wishes from all at Vital Villa.
