Guzan - A Tale Of Two Emotions

Brad Guzan has spoken about a mix of emotions on the official site today after making his debut, but seeing us crash out of the Carling Cup again.

Guzan had very little to do all match to be fair, the few things asked of him he handled competently. I'm sure all those who have seen the goal will agree with me, there was nothing he could've done about it.

'I was pleased to make my first start but I am desperately disappointed we lost the game.

'Any time you make an appearance, it's great but when you come into a competition like this and you can't get a result, it's frustrating.

'It's particularly annoying because I thought we were the better team and created the better chances. But at the end of the day, football is about results.

'We created chances but we just couldn't finish. That's what the game's about. We did all the pretty things and all the good work but we couldn't capitalise on that.

'Overall, it was good to get that debut under my belt. But I am disappointed for the fans.

'I think we let them down - particularly after the results in the past week.

'We have been playing well away from Villa Park so to come home and not get the result is upsetting for the players and the fans.'

He had very little to do last night, so in many ways it was the ideal game in which to make his debut. Agree that he wasn't to blame for the goal that ended our hopes of a decent cup run, so that has to be a personal plus for him.

What has happened now to Stuart Taylor? He has dropped right out of the picture. Is he injured, or is it just the fact that he's now officially our number three keeper?

Good debut I thought.
murph
I like him already.

Guzan is indeed the future, this one defeat wont deflect from his status as the future of Aston Villa.
