As the games are coming thick and fast and the win, lose, draw prediction polls always come up 80% or over for a Villa win, I thought I'd ask how far you think Villa can go in the Carling Cup this season instead.
Ozzy has signed a new deal at Villa! 21-year-old Isaiah Osbourne has signed a new 3-year-deal. Martin O'Neill said of the midfielder's deal: 'I am delighted Isaiah has signed. He has ability and great strength and his attitude has been fantastic this season. His contract was running out and we wanted to renew it. We think he has a future here and importantly, so does Isaiah.'

Colin Davies just keeps on a'rocking! This time a song for John Carew: A Song For John Carew - By Colin Davies!
It has been announced long standing communications manager Phil Mepham has left the club to seek a new challenge.
Vital Villan: John Carew doesn't mind if we play football, like the Spurs win, or if we have to dig deep and battle like the Baggies win - he just wants the 3 points on offer. On the Baggies game he said: 'It was a fantastic team performance. It wasn't the prettiest game - but derby games are never like that - it was a battle and very physical but we rose to the challenge.' Full article: Sublime Or Ugly - 3pts Are All That Matter
Talking of John Carew, he has told the official site that Villa need to keep their focus in order to stay in the Carling Cup. 'QPR are one of the most high-profile teams in the Championship and they have masses of potential. It is an up-and-coming club and I fully expect them to be a Premier League team soon. It is a massive game for us and we have to be thoroughly prepared for it.' Adding, 'We are desperate to win some silverware here at Villa - it's been too long for the supporters. The League Cup offers a big chance for us to do well. We would love to go all the way to the final and a date at Wembley.'
Martin O`Neill has told the Express and Star that there will be no problems with the contract talks with Ashley Young. The Villa boss wants to tie Young down to a bigger/longer contract despite the fact the winger has 3 years on his current deal in order to stave off interest from other clubs. He said: 'We have been in discussions. It`s not taking an inordinate amount of time, it`s only because it`s a matter of us getting together. Obviously we want to extend his contract and put him where we think he belongs."
He also hints at a potential new deal for Stiliyan Petrov telling the E&S 'I haven`t spoken to Stiliyan or agent about anything but all I will say is this is the best he has ever played. He`s consistently playing well and I am so pleased for him.'
Nicky Shorey says the players are fine despite the recent busy run of games. He told the Birmingham Post, 'Three away wins in a space of days is quite an achievement, especially when you think this last game was a big derby. We have done well and we are glad to be through it but of course we have still got quite a few games left. When you are as confident as we are just now, I think you want to keep on playing games. For me personally I am more than happy the thicker and faster they come.' I like this lad, I notice a few already writing him off, hopefully the boo boys won't start, I think he could be a very good member of our squad.
Villa's away reserve game at Chelsea has been moved back one week. The game will now be played on Monday October 13 at Brentford FC. 7pm kick-off.
Thought for the day: 'Why do they lock petrol station restrooms? Are they afraid someone will clean them?'
