Martin O'Neill must be loving life lately, when we are awful we pick up the win, and when the pressure is on we are starting to respond.
Speaking on the official site after the 2-1 victory over the Boggies, O'Neill stated that Villa's performance was certainly good value for money, and whilst he was nervous our failure to kill the game off in the first half and then in the second, could come back to bite us, he states it was a super result nontheless and a brilliant way of bouncing back from a less than acceptable performance against Lovech.
'It was a super performance and a super result. I thought we did brilliantly.
'We did the damage early on with two great goals. We deserved to win because other than the goals we had several other good chances.
'When the game opened up in the second half I thought we looked a real handful.
'John Carew hit the post twice. If one of those had gone in, it would have given us a two-goal cushion. But it wasn't to be.
'I thought those two misses might come back to haunt us but thankfully they didn't.
'Gabby's goal was sensational. He has been brilliant for us. He played up by himself in Bulgaria and I thought he added a new dimension to his game there. He got his just rewards today.
'Brad's save in the first half was very important too because at that stage they were back in the game.
'He wasn't happy with himself for their goal but he made up for it with that save. It was vital to go in at the break 2-1 rather than 2-2.'
We are shaping ourselves up for a good season here, and whilst the games keep coming thick and fast we are pulling the wins out and grinding out the results.
10 competative matches into the season, only 1 loss and 6 wins, couple of days break and it's time for QPR and the chance for a second Cup run this season.
