'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Banterful Brilliance

Ashley Young has admitted on the official site that Nigel Hokey-Cokey took a bit of a ribbing after the Spurs match, due to him finally finding the goal.

Hokey hasn't scored for 21 months, his last goal came against Man U for Wet Spam back in December 06, so whilst he was probably relieved to have scored, it gave everyone else a good opportunity to remind him of how long it had been.

'Anyone who walked past the dressing room after the game would have known how we felt about the victory - we were absolutely delighted.

'It was a superb start to the game and we were all pleased for Nigel. The lads get on his back in training about shooting more but he was in the right place at the right time. He put it away brilliantly.

'Some of the lads are saying Nigel just stuck out his foot and it hit him and went in. But he is telling everyone it was a striker's finish and I suppose we'll take his word for it.'

Good job it didn't hit his shin, he'd have been walking round the dressing room thinking he was Peter Withe.

Young also had top praise for Gareth Barry, following the match.

'Gareth has been fantastic for us this season and I thought he was superb last night. It was a real match-winning performance.

'I would have been delighted with that bit of skill he showed in the run-up to the goal - it was the talk of the dressing room after the game.

'I got the ball from him, went past one and fired towards goal - I was pleased to score and it gave us an important cushion.'

Yes in the style of any great player :-) He is going to be the rock on which our success is built.

It was a class turn though from Barry....i've watched it a few times and it appears our Gaz Baz has deceptively quick feet.....

I think he will be gettin more of the ribbing cause thats 2 in 2. Nigel Reo Coker .... Goal Machine!

He finished in style, a quality strike on the ground where a certain James Greaves used to poach so regularly. Nigel Reo-Coker, the next Jimmy Greaves? Very definitely.

Pity though that we only scored twice at White Hart Lane. Our approach play was deserving of so much better. We were hanging on at the end, in a game we had controlled comfortably for virtually eighty-five minutes.

2 in 2 for Coker, how many has Ashley got? :-)
