Bouma on New Contract

Wilfred Bouma is naturally delighted with his new contract, telling the Villa faithful "I will return fitter and stronger than ever."

As reported earlier, Bouma has signed a new two-year extension, with a view for a 3rd season should things go well, despite the long term injury suffered in Villa`s Inter-Two-Bob cup match against Odense before the start of the league season.

Bouma spoke to the official club website, avfc.co.uk:

'I am very happy. I've signed this new contract when I'm still injured so that shows a lot of faith in me. That has given me a real confidence boost.

'I have had a set-back but I want to get back playing again as soon as possible.

'I had to fight to get in the team when I first joined and I am determined to do that again when I come back fit. That's my goal.

'I will return fitter and stronger than ever.'

Looking forward to it Wilf!

Good news, lots of new contracts being signed recently. Wonder who'll be first team, him or shorey?

Delighted that Freddy has got the contract extension he really deserves it on the consistent performances since MoN's arrival. Good luck to him.

I had ever heard or seen freddy speak until now,For some reason i didn`t expect him to speak such good english or be as friendly,One of our best players imo.

Well on the road to recovery we are led to believe, and that has to be good news. It'll take time to fully heal, and for him to get back to his best, but who could doubt that Freddie of all people will come through?

Certainly one of O'Leary's better pieces of business in bringing Freddie to Villa Park. He (Freddie) said that he wanted to test himself at the premiership level, and he's certainly come through with flying colours.
