Legends On Show For Acorns

Legends On Show For Acorns

Aston Villa Old Stars have announced a three match programme in order to raise funds for Acorns.

The Old Stars will as ever include European Cup and League title winners, and will be joined by more recent stars like Mark Kinsella, Garry Parker, Steve Staunton, Mark Walters and Tony Daley.

The Old Stars will face:

Sunday September 14 (ko 2.30pm)
Team Lewis XI
Studley Football Club

Sunday September 28 (ko 2.30pm)
Bromsgrove School Dads XI
Studley Football Club

Sunday October 12 (ko 2.30pm)
Wake Green Amateurs
Wake Green Amateurs Football Club

Admission to each game is by match programme available in advance from each venue or at the gate on the day.

Neil Rioch, chairman of Aston Villa Former Players Association said: 'The Aston Villa Old Stars have played matches in support of Acorns Children's Hospice for many years but given the very strong links acorns now has with Aston Villa Football Club it is particularly pleasing to be playing three games for them this year.

'Our new team manager Chris Nicholl is having a fantastic first season in charge with 14 wins in 14 games so far with the team scoring 85 goals and conceding just 13. The calibre of the team is as strong as ever, which is why we've been able to attract another full fixture list for the 49th consecutive year'.

The Old Stars matches never fail to be a great day out, and you never know who you may meet.

This is good. Its really growing throughout the club, the support for Acorns. Hopefully more match day collections will be held soon, but with collectors considerably more visible.
