Reports Of Young Extension Denied

Martin O'Neill has denied weekend reports that Ashley Young had signed a new deal at Villa Park, stating, negotiations are on going.

Must admit I knew O'Neill had talked about extending his contract, but I must have missed reports saying he'd signed one. then again I've slept since then and gone back on the wagon and everyone knows I remember more when, well than than sober.

Speaking to the Mail, O'Neill said:

"Nothing has been agreed but we are in negotiation.

"I can spend the next week-and-a-half dealing with the issues I have wanted to deal with.

"That means looking at the players who have got two years or less and those who I would like to keep at the football club.

"The best time to do it is to open those negotiations now. I have already spoken to Ashley`s agent, so we will see where we go.

"I am hoping he is enjoying himself well enough here and that he would like to stay. He still has three years left to run. So it is not a major problem."

After the failure of Steve Sven Capello to realise Heskey isn't actually Young, O'Neill added:

"I am surprised but his time will come, Ashley would not be worrying himself about it - not at all.

"If and when England qualify for the World Cup I am sure he will be on the plane to South Africa. He will be an old man by then though. He`ll be at least 24!"

A 24 year old Ashley Young, blimey how these nippers grow!

very noticable that when Villa look poor up front it's when Ashley has a bad game. I think him and Milner are the key to us breaking the top 5 this year.

Believe it when it is on the Official Site, the papers make stuff up. Apparantly Barry was going to join Liverpool, he didnt, papers made it up.

I hope he signs but i don;t think it will be any time soon

Yes, someone please tell me how Ashley Young doesnt get in this england squad...PLEASE !!
Euro_Champs_82
You'll have to look a long time for someone who can decently explain that Euro, it's a farce. But I hope Ashley is here for the long run, I'm with Melski in saying I believe the width and supply for the strikers provided by him and Milner will be invaluable to us. Ashley Ashley Young, Ashley Ashley Young, he'll dub you by the count of two, Ashley Ashley Young!!!
Mayo_12
I think its because he is too fancy for Capello, he tries to many tricks, Italians dont like that stuff.

hopefully with Milner in now it will take a bit of attention away from Ash. Defences will have two wings to worry about now, so hopefully this will give Ash (and Milner) the space to work his magic!

Yes, for some reason Capello doesn't see in Ashley was most others do. Wonder what it is? In my opinion Ashley should certainly be ahead of the likes of Downing. His selection in preference to our Ash is laughable.

MON knows full well that we need Ash signed up on a long term deal, a deal more in keeping with Ashley's contribution to the cause. He'll sign up in due course, when the times right, and the remuneration package meets with his approval.
