Villa Midfielder Gareth Barry In England Squad

Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry who plays for Midlands club Aston Villa at Villa Park for Aston Villa has been named in the England squad for the world cup qualifiers against Adorra and (gulp) Croatia.

Fabio Capello strangely hasn't called up Ashley Young and (rightly in my humble opinion as he isn't ready yet) Gabby Agbonlahor also misses out.

The England squad, which includes Villa player Gareth Barry:

Green, James, Robinson, Bridge, A Cole, Ferdinand, Johnson, Terry, Brown, Lescott, Upson, Barry, Lampard, Bullard, Beckham, Jenas, J Cole, Bentley, Downing, Walcott, Rooney, Heskey, Defoe

Surely Beckhams days should be over now he has retired to America? And Jimmy Bullard? Hmmm!

Bentley? He hasn't had a good game this season, yet! Bullard and no Ashley? What's wrong with Don Fabio? Have the prawn sandwich eating tur ds at the FA been in his ear about the quota of London based players?

Barry will I am sure return to his usual form once the Liverpool game and England break is behind him, the break now give him time to put the last 3 months behind him.

Ashley young not making the squad is a travesty! Best English player in the league last season IMO and looks to have carried over to this season. Maybe one day, Capello will open his eyes

Have to agree DtY but if it keeps him fresh and injury free for us I won't complain too much, FabC is a bit of a disappointment so far in my eyes, maybe part of a conspiracy to destroy English football (thought McClown was doing a pretty good job though) but we shall see

UPSON?!?!?!?!?!?! sod Capello, he can overlook them as much as he wants, just means they're fitter for us. Once Milner clicks then Ashley is gonna feel so much benefit and actually be MORE dangerous. Bodes well for us.

Feel sorry for Ashley and even Gabby, there are two young players who give 100% for England and are once again overlooked by Capello, he seems to think he can win something with the same players Sven and the Dutchman McClaren failed to win anything with, when Capello came in we were promised a Manager who didnt take any crap, would pick players on form instead of reputation, well this and the last squad proves this simply isnt the case, i have not really followed England since Sven left and I wont be starting anytime soon, the National team is a bloody joke.

3 (well 2.5 if you include hesko!) strikers is a joke. I gave up on the England team ages ago.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a steamig pile of crap, what the ***** is bloody beckham still doing in the team??? He's veeery slow, wonders out of position far more and to a greater extent than reo-coker ever does, and his delivery, though good, is no better tan that of young or bentley. In america he's good enough to wander round wherever, and his position gets covered. However he was never good enough for that here, never! Let alone now hes the wrong side of 30. We'd be better off with terry on the wing!!! ARRGGHH!!!

capello is all of a sudden a complete donkey bladder

Capello is a Knob. Hope he chokes on his spaghetti!!!!!!!

Congratulations to Gareth, but apart from that, the same tired old faces that have let us down on so many occasions. How or why Ashley is not in that squad, only Capello can answer. Its ridiculous, defies logic. Good luck to England, but I'm certainly not holding my breath. Defeat against Croatia looks very much on the cards.

Hope Gareth returns fit and well, as I do our other players away on international duty. We have some important games coming up, we need all our lads fit and raring.

I think that Capello will get it right bellywipes, although I accept its all about opinion. Top coach, proven track record, he'll sort it out and get it right.
