Villa Draw QPR in the Carling Cup

Aston Villa are set to host Ian Dowie`s Queens Park Rangers in the 3rd Round of the Carling Cup.

Villa are making their debut in this years competition, with European antics allowing us to enter the tournament at the 3rd stage.

QPR meanwhile have had to overcome fellow forgotten Premier League cannon fodder Swindon, and Carlisle United.

The last time the Villa faced QPR, they were a lot poorer, and JPA, Vassell AND Nobby Solano all managed to score on the same day!

The tie will be played in the week beginning the 22nd September.

to be honest i wouldnt mind getting knocked out of the league cup ,but maybe not by QPR. i think the league and uefa cup need to be our main focus this season, although it would nice to win a cup.
revival4us
Agree with revival4us but QPR are on the up and the game may be harder than you think anyway!

We've has some cracking games with this shower down the years in this tournament, I'm thinking particularly now of the epic three game semi-final back in '76-77, great memories indeed. Bring 'em on.

Arguably our best opportunity to lift a trophy this season, lets go for it. Luck of the draw, which of course every club is looking and hoping for, and we have as good a chance as any.
