Interview With A Liverpool Fan !

Interview With A Liverpool Fan !

1) Rafa Benitez, has he morphed into Tom Jones for any particular reason?

Its a little side project that he does in an attempt to raise extra funds! You'd think he really was Tom Jones when he sings!

2) I get the feeling the top two are already written in stone but that the 3rd and 4th places are up for grabs with Arsenal and Liverpool under pressure. What do you think?!?!?

I hope, but don't think that we will the title, but we can finish closer to the eventual winner (or top two) than we have in recent years. However I will not write off winning the league of course. The top four finishers? I think this will remain the usual top four, although again the gap will probably close even more.

3) Gareth Barry - embarrassing saga, a lost opportunity, a sign that the owners and manager aren't in synch? And are you happy or sad that you've not got him?

To be fair neither side has come out of this saga with a great amount of credit at various times have they, all parties have said this, that and the other. The Yanks don't have the cash they said, they are putting this down to the "global credit crunch" but I'm not so sure about that one! Barry is a quality footballer who would improve any side, so of course I would've loved to see him in a Red shirt but I'm not getting overly worried about missing out on him.

4) What do you see Liverpool achieving this season?

I'd like to see us win a trophy, which is possible. Getting closer to winning the league is also possible, so seeing that would be great.

5) What do you think of your summer signings?

Too soon to judge really as not enough has been seen of them, and what we have seen hasn't been any worse to what we already had as we've not played well so far this season. Robbie Keane cost a hell of a lot of money, and a lot more than he should have, but that is football for you these days. Once his partnership with Fernando Torres fully clicks we'll be laughing.

6) If you could have one player from Villa, who would it be, and who would you send in the opposite direction?

I won't say Gareth Barry, that's far too easy! Like I mentioned he would improve any side but I like young Gabriel Agbonlahor, he's got a great future ahead of him. There isn't really anyone I would want to send away from our current squad really, most of the donkies have now gone!

7) What is your opinion of Aston Villa and also Martin O'Neill? Bet you wish your owners were as good as ours! :o)

Villa are a very good club, but a club that should have achieved much more over the years than they have. Martin O'Neill is sending you in the right direction and you will be challenging the top four this season.

8) Come on then, a prediction, will Gerrard fluke a free kick and convert it in the dying minutes again?!

Stevie Gerrard is out injured luckily for you isn't he so it will be Fernando Torres or Javier Mascherano in the dying minutes ;o) Tough call, Villa Park is never an easy place to go to so I would settle for a point but I will say a 2-1 win to the Reds.

Just wanted to add this before I go! I have been sorry for the way things have gone over the summer with the Barry saga. Most of this was before my time on Vital Liverpool, but a lot of heated words have been exchanged and relationships between the two clubs strained, which is a shame. The media being the media have blown most things out of proportion as always, so they should share a large amount of the blame here and I hope that friendly rivalry can be restored? Villa didn't want to sell Barry, we wanted him and he wanted the move but we wouldn't pay what Villa wanted so they rightly didn't deal us in, all the other stuff that went with it was nonsense so lets put this to rest one and for all, well at least until January :o)

Strange how most of our guest interviewees pick Gabby as the Villa player they would most like to have. Hope their managers feel the same so they keep their mucky paws off Ashley!

True Saurat. People who think Gabby is better than Ashley are utter bonkers! Young will set up at least 20-25 goals this season.

Boys, we are not all arrogant you know!! Always had a soft spot for Villa to be honest and in O'Neill you have a great manager who will take you places. I think the way Barry has handled himself since the move failed is exactly why Rafa was so intent on getting him (as well as being a superb player of course). The difference between him and Berbatov says it all. Looking forward to the game (Favourite away game for me) and a few drinks in Broad St tonight. Would take a point if am honest. Good luck for the season but not tomorrow (maybe you deserve a bit tomorrow after last year though!!)

About time we beat this lot, I do know that. You're right Pking, where, when, or how did we as a club do anything wrong over the 'Barry saga'? Anyhow, in light of the summer's sorry events, there'll be no better time than to beat them than tomorrow.

I think Saurat/son_of_cher that Gabby is sadly very under-rated by many Villans. To compare him with Ash is unfair, two very different players, but both very important to the club in their own right.

Dont get me wrong i do rate Gabby, but Young is far more productive and important to our team. Big season for the Gabster, he's improved loads lately and is starting to hold the ball up and look for the pass rather than run with his head down. He's not a bad finisher with both feet either (when confident)
