Villa Bidding For Hammers Dean Ashton?

Villa Bidding For Hammers Dean Ashton?

Has Villa boss Martin O'Neill taken leave of his senses? The man has gone shopping mad!!!!!!!!!

Villa today are being linked with West Ham and England striker Dean Ashton Reports, are claiming Villa have bid in the region of £12million for the 24-year-old forward.

Could be a great signing, he is young and still learning but with our supply I am sure he could improve on an already 1 goal in 3 games record.

The Daily Mirror say we'll go for him after missing out on Blackburn's Rogque Santa Cruz. Ashton would certainly fit in with the mainly young English players vibe at the club and who knows, this striker could grow into a real Alan Shearer type, he certainly has the physical presence and goal poaching ability.

Ashton has already got off to a flying start this year with goals in pre-season and a brace in the Hammers first game v Wigan.

Only stumbling block will be will West Ham really want to sell their star striker, especially when he signed a new contract only last May.

So come on Dean, swap the pink and the blues for the real claret and blues!

The Times suggest we could be lining up a move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Peguy Luyindula.

I doubt we will get him but if we do we will keep him fit with our facilities and liverpool and arsenal can move over.

This would be a GREAT signing, but I really can't see West Ham selling him. The squad is really taking shape (the Milner signing was crucial to the balance), but as proved by Marlon's performance the other night we are in need of a quality striker. Unfortunately, Marlon is only an 'impact' player IMO. If Gabby or JC got injured we would be in the sxxt. Also, now Maloney has gone do we need cover for Ashley? Milner gives us the option of playing 4-5-1 away from home with his versatility, as well as providing natural with in a 4-4-2

Getting Ashton would be another quality coup for us, but it'll be interesting to see whether we can get something done for big money like that in the space of 2 days. The contract issue I don't think is a biggie - Milner only signed a new 4-year deal with Newcastle last year. One sticking point with me, is he injury prone or just unlucky?

GET HIM. I'm wetting my pants at the thought of Ashton in our team alongside Carew/Gabby with Young, Milner, Barry all bombing forward!

We only have 2.5 strikers at the moment. Unfortunately Marlon is only half a player because he can't start a game and produce. Maloney was never an out and out striker anyway. Losing big John would mean that Laursen is the next best scorer and we all know that he (Carew) likes a wander over to the bench at the slightest knock. The evil money spending MON replacement from a parallel universe needs to break our new transfer record again to get a top striker and put the cherry on the icing of our team. As long as he doesn't grow a goatee ala Rafa to go with his new Colleen McLaughlin spendaholic lifestyle ;-D
