'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Wayne Routledge Earns Man Of Match Vote

Vital Villa asked, in a poll suggested by 'chuffed with progression' (ie Vital Villan in his wisdom/madness.. delete as appropriate!):

Icelandic Team Man Of The Match! Coward didn't fancy spelling it I see... that said, nor could I!

Wayne Routledge came out the clear winner with 48%

Next up was the one I thought would win, Craig Gardner with 22%

Moustapha Salifou earnt 20% of the votes with some decent passing during the 1-1 draw.

That left:

Friedel (5%)

Reo-Coker (1%)

Davies (1%)

Osbourne (1%)

Barry (1%)

Delfouneso (1%)

Agbonlahor (0%)

Harewood (0%)

Knight (0%)

He did do well - deserves it as much as anyone in a mediocre performance
NorthcliffeBandit
FH Hafnarfjordur. Yay.
Carlosio
His foot work on and around the ball looked great another budding C.Ronaldo maybe ? :)
Mutt_Man
Went home thinking we had a solution on the right, good 1st touch, willing to go past, crossing could be better then MoN signs Milner...... Happy days!
Stourbridge Villan
MOTM? I mean, he ran well and looked one of the few in the side with any kind of urgency, but there was no end product to any of his game. Maybe he needs match practice to improve that, but he's got a lot of improving to do before he'll likely be competition to milner.
johnnyuk
I'd agree with that Johnny totally. Surprised people felt he was MOTM, although he did show some promise
Villa4Europe
how strange, maybe the people who voted were the ones shouting 'COME ON' everytime he got the ball. (like the noisy ***** sat behind me in the trinity road!!!)
industrial_musical
But hows the lad gonna get any better if Mon doesn't give him a chance?? Then he signs milner for HOW MUCH??? lol behave!!!
notaspur
johnny - agreed it wasn't a spectacular, but the best of a bad bunch. Who was official MOTM?
NorthcliffeBandit
I haven't heard about the official motm to be honest...would have been tough to give it to anyone! haha. I thought Davies showed a lot of class, but tidy performances from a centre back rarely get noticed!
Villa4Europe
johnny, i take your point, but he did his job really. Got down the wings and put crosses in.. & he had the beating of his man. If someone managed to head one of the 10 crosses he put in the box, we'd be saying he did really well. He can only impress in the games MON plays him in & nobody else in the game had any urgency!
notaspur
He looked very raw: his control and ability to beat the man were fantastic, but in terms of end product, his crossing was poor all night, nobody got in the end because he couldn't deliver a decent ball in. I'm not sure who the official man of the match was, but I know MON was saying that for him it was Salifou. For me, it was either Davis or Gardner
lorenzo
No end product whatsoever, and its been the same every time I've seen him. Reserves, pre-season friendlies etc, its that final ball that lets him down. He has the ability, the skill, can definitely beat a man, but then seems to get a rush of blood, and wastes all of his good work.
glensider
Personally thought Craig was the pick of a mediocre bunch. The kid deserves a break at first team level, he has so much to offer, yet he seems to be slipping further and further down the pecking order. Being played at right full back last season hardly helped his cause, then again I guess, it won him a regular starting spot in SAtuart Pearces under 21 England team.
glensider
Lorenzo & Glensider.. Thats why we're football fans. You think he had end product & for me some of those crosses were good balls, but nobody attacking them.. They were put into very good areas all you had to do was toe-end some of them? Lorenzo??? How was the mans crossing poor all night?? What u got in your pipe?? lol
notaspur
Yes, all about opinions notaspur. He certainly has the natural ability that allows him to beat a man, so good luck to him. I'm not writing him off.
