Villa Uefa Cup Draw PFC Litex Lovech

Aston Villa have drawn Bulgarian team PFC Litex Lovech in the Uefa Cup first round proper.

If we win.... sorry, when we win this draw, we go into the group stages.

The official site says of the team:

Twice Bulgarian champions and three times Bulgarian cup winners. Finished fourth in the Bulgarian A PFG last season to secure a place in the UEFA Cup second qualifying round. Beat Israeli side Kiryat Shmona FC 2-1 to go into today's draw.

Litex clash could be tricky one, but I'm sure there will be no problem for Villa to beat them

well, just so you know the new coach of Litex is Stanimir Stoilov....he got Levski to the UEFA CUP Quater finals, and to Champions League...so I would be a bit careful....

Get a draw away and then stuff them at VP - UTV.

The Wiki page names the greatest ever 11. It includes Radostin Kishishev at RB, and Svetoslav Todorov as a striker. I'm not putting my neck out when I say we should be beating these guys in both legs. Comfortably.

How nice to draw a team whose name we can all pronounce. Were all going on a european tour, european tour eoropean tour.

A tricky one. We could have drawn a lot more difficult opponents admittedly, but there were easier ones out there too. Got to get this defence of ours sorted, we might face a bit of a backs to the wall job in the first leg.

Interesting, Bulgaria. Havent been there to see the lads, must admit its tempting. Might just join you on that european tour 50 years a villan. Together well be 96 years a Villan.

Liteks played in Ireland in the UEFA cup a few years ago and lost 1-0 to Longford Town, who won the cup here two years in a row, and won the home leg to go through. We should beat them with caution advised. Remember 2001?

Correction - 1-1 in Longford, 2-0 in Lovech, 3-1 on agg.

There's more. That was the same year we lost to Varteks in round 1, they lost 4-3 on agg to AEK Athens in round 3 (last 32). It's all on UEFA.com,

Caution blah blah blah. We should bury them, sorry. No excuses if we don't.

No it wont be Madirish. Bulgarian club football isn't as shabby as its painted, although admittedly their clubs are hardly household names. After Varteks you'd have thought that we'd learned our lesson about not being over confident. Even the minnows out there can have a sting in the tail.
