Gabby's Record Breaking

Gabby's Record Breaking

Well I was close yesterday when I said I thought Gabby's hattrick had to be one of the fastest, if not the fastest in the Premiership. I was only slightly out.

The following figures are shamelessly stolen from the official site, but I don't think they'll mind.

Gabby's perfect hattrick in the match against Man City came in exactly 7.37 minutes and puts him in second place in the table for quickest hattricks in the Premiership.

What's more remarkable is his effort is only bettered by Robbie Fowler.

Robbie Fowler - 4.33 mins on Aug 28th 1994 for Liverpool v Arsenal.

Gabby Aggy - 7.37 mins on 17 Aug 2008 for Villa v Man City

Ian Wright - 9 mins on 15 apr 1995 for Arsenal v Ipswich

Ole Gunnar Sunshine - 10 mins on 6 Feb 1999 for Man U v Notts Forest

Teddy Sheringham - 10 mins on 28 Oct 2000 for Man U v Southampton

Jermaine Pennant - 10 mins on 7 May 2003 for Arsenal v Southampton

So there you go stat freaks, enjoy!

What about the Fowler gattrick against Villa a few years ago? I thought that was one of the quickest, that kobber always used to score against Villa.

Hard to believe that someone could bag three goals in four minutes plus, but I remember Fowlers treble as if it were this past weekend for some reason. To be in the right place at the right time to successfully finish off three attacking moves in such a short space of time, certainly takes some doing. A strikers instinct I guess.

Thought Gabby took all of his three well, particularly number three. He initially checked his run so as not to be offside, timed his run perfectly, outpaced Micah Richards, switched to his left foot, and finished superbly. Take a bow Gabby!
