Gabby's Triple Vision

Gabby's Triple Vision

Gabby Agbonlahor has stolen tomorrow's sports headlines with his fantastic hattrick into todays match against Manchester City.

Despite stealing the show and many fans Man of the Match vote, the pacey, (and as a huge critic of Gabby's overall play myself, I must add) the steadily improving striker was quick to praise the service he received and his fellow teammates.

The England U21 striker in only 8 minutes has shown Fabio Capello has made an Ass of himself in selecting Emule Heskey and not him for the full squad this time round.

I don't get that, why go back to a player who couldn't hack it at International level years ago and since then succeeded in becoming the first (I think) striker to only score once in a whole season?

Anyway, I digress.

Speaking on the official site after the match, the usual bubbly Gabby said:

'To score three goals in the opening game, I couldn't have asked for a better start to the season.

'We had loads of chances to score in the first-half - Gareth had a few and others players had a few - so we knew the goals would come and they did in the second-half.

'My partnership with John Carew is a good partnership but it's thanks to the midfielders as well. If it wasn't for them today we wouldn't have scored four. So credit to them.'

He shut me up today. Let's see him make this a habit and my thoughts on Gabby will change indefinitely.

He is improving season on season, can't say fairer than that. 3 goals already, wonder if he can push for 15 - 20 this season?

Great hat trick from Gabby, especially the run for his third goal. Again, we look like we will score plenty but concede a lot too. Better teams than City might have punished us for some of the easy giveaways today. Anyway, great start to the season for a change and brilliant to see the boys play again.

I can't believe some of the stick gabby has received on here lately..I hope today's showing will finally shut a few people up. Well done Gabby.

I admit that i was questioning him during pre season, but if he carrys this sort of form on through the season he will be a class player for us. Great start. What is capello thinking no young in the england squad and after today performance where is gabby? Why Heskey?

I don`t understand why people may have given him stick,He is a 22 year old up and coming player trying to progress,And over the course of 2 seasons in the first team he has improved brilliantly. In my opinion he has got everything a top striker needs,Last season he added hold up play to his game and today it looked as if he has improved his instinctive finishing. The best thing is he is truly our player,He was born in the midlands is a villa fan and is a product of our youth system,That 90 seconds at the sty last season was epic.I love it.

This is true, he is one of us. And you know what, if Gabby was on minimum wage he'd probably still want to play for Villa.
