Bid Lodged For Newcastle Winger Milner?

Bid Lodged For Newcastle Winger Milner?

The press are reporting that Villa put in a bid for Newcastle winger James Milner yesterday and are currently waiting for a response.

The Mirror say we've bid £9million and reckon we'll raise the money by selling Gareth Barry to Liverpool later in the week. Total hogwash, Villa don't have to sell to buy anymore. The Mirror have 'sources close' to the player saying Milner would like to stay in the Toon but the club are ignoring his requests for new contract talks.

The Daily Mail also claim we've bid £9million.

The Guardian meanshile say Villa have bid £7m. They also say Newcastle's manager, Kevin Keegan, faces a possible battle with his board over Milner. He is keen to keep the 22-year-old but will most likely have to sell players to achieve his ambition of adding to his squad this month and the club's owner, Mike Ashley, will be sorely tempted to accept an offer for Milner. Ashley revealed this week that Newcastle still owe £27m in outstanding payments on transfer deals completed before he took over. Keegan meanwhile wants to hold on to his players and is also seeing striker Alan Smith linked with Everton and Villa.

LOL, his price is crashing as the Telegraph say we've bid £6million for the 22-year old England U21 international. They further claim that Keegan recently managed to hold onto Alan Smith after Ashley accepted a £3 million offer from Everton. But if Ashley now agrees to sell Milner it will certainly place further strain on his relationship with Keegan, whose second stint as Newcastle has been far from smooth.

If the bid is £9million I'd be shocked if they turn it down. Good signing for us as far as I can see, then if we turn our attention to a striker, surely we'll be more than sorted for the season, or at least until January!?

Talking about strikers, The Sun claim Manchester City have bid £12m for Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz who was linked to Villa last week.

keegan wants to keep him, ashley is having to pay off 27 million of transfers a while ago before he came, 9 million will tempt them, but keegan won't be happy. Ashley is one unwilling billionaire to spend the dosh, I personally think he wants out! .... I'm digressing... Milner played very well during his time at Villa, would be good signing again, all positive!

He bought Newcastle without doing any due diligence apparently. Amazing. Some think these clubs are cash cows, but footie is unlike any other business, we all know that, strange some of these new owners don't! lol

i remember reading an article on Ashley, he was made a billioanire in one day, he said he kept out the limelight and there was about two pictures of him in existence. He buys newcastle, and wears his shirt, and sits himself with the fans like a proper plastic fan that he is. Surely buying newcastle he would of known about the debts, if he was a proper supporter, you can't really make money in football unless your a player!

According to the Mercury: The Aston Villa boss has turned his attentions to the England Under-21 winger as he spends the cash he will raise by selling Gareth Barry to Liverpool later this week.....You gotta laugh!! Barry isn't going anywhere.

I would love to see Millner back at VP - he is very young, has tons of experience, and I fancy MON could turn him into a fantastic player!! And yes, then we can turn our attentions to getting another striker- keep em rolling in MON!!!!

Would be a great signing for you lot, would make a change playing in a good team rather than the skunks week in week out.

Where are the people who were questioning randys integrity? The pr, spin, eliis era and lies comments which were made in regards to randys financial backing to the general were quite frankly embarrassing and out of order.Anyway onwards and upwards,Newcastle will not be able to turn down 9 million for milner,And i would suggest that villa know that which is why we haven`t tried with a lower bid first.I can`t wait to see him back at the villa.

Milners in the same mould as Gareth Barry. Wouldnt be surprised to see MON chuck him in CM after a few seasons if we sign him. Good siging and can only improve more as a player. 9m is a bit steep though, 7m is more realistic.

SSN on their website claim that Villa have made an offer for Milner. He is a good player, and no doubt he has improved over that last 2 seasons, and M'ON can improve his game. I would ideally like to see a striker come in to make his debut on Saturday.
