Sidwell To Miss Uefa Bow

Steve Sidwell will definitely miss the first leg Uefa tie against the team I can't spell from Iceland.

The calf strain he picked up prior to the Reading game, that also kept him out of our two games in Spain hasn't fully cleared up so O'Neill has opted to not risk him this time round.

Speaking about the injury O'Neill said:

'I think Steve will only start doing a bit of work later this week so he will not be fit for Thursday.'

Player and manager are hopeful he will be back in contention for the season's opener against Man City.

If Gardner, Petrov or Osborne to start??? Hmmm....
bazzah
Gardner please - can see him scoring with a screamer from 30 yards out!

Gardner likely to play right back so it's likely that Petrov, Osborne or (dare i say it) Barry will play alongside NRC in the middle...

A blow to the player, and to the club. I think that Steve Sidwell will prove to be a very important signing for us. An opportunity maybe for young Craig to step up to the plate in midfield, or will he be used again as a makeshift right full back?

It will be good to see Craig have the opportunity to claim a midfield starting place in the team this season. I cant help but think that playing him at right full back has held him back somewhat.
