Gareth Barry Might Stay After-all !

Gareth Barry Might Stay After-all !

Well well, looks like Gareth Barry might be staying at Villa afterall.

HA HA! The Daily Mirror claim that the much loved new owners of Liverpool can't raise the cash for Gareth Barry so the deal could well be off !

According to the Times, Gareth Barry might himself pull the plug on a possible move to Liverpool if the Anfield outfit can't get the transfer sorted before the new season starts.

Arsenal are also linked but they have enough problems of their own meeting the payments for the Emirates Stadium and despite selling some players this summer, it isn't usually Arsene Wengers way to splash out £18million on a player.

I would LOVE to see Gareth Barry be the one to pull the plug and despite the fact it will be difficult for him to pledge allegiance, at least he can come out with some sort of apology and look to commit to Villa at least for this season, then everyone can assess what progress we have made and maybe he'll not need to move anywhere to fulfil his Champions League ambitions?

Despite his antics, I'd still love to see him stay, obviously he is the engine of our team and a key part of it.

Certainly been one of the longest running transfer saga's I can remember, if nothing else Liverpool have managed to unsettle the best player of one of their rivals!

Injury to Gerrard means Alonso will play in CL qualifier. That's his value for this season down through the floor with him being cup tied, so LFC won't want to 'give' him away. No bids apparently for Pennant or Voronin = no cash to buy GB. They still have 23 days, but I don't think it will happen this TW. They may try again in Jan, but hopefully GB will realise by then that the grass isn't always greener...

Thing is Barry might now see we are bringing in decent players and are looking stronger, i remember last season he came out saying we need more players and is surprised not to see anyone come in (before the Young transfer) I mean if lets say we brought someone decent on the right like Pederson/Milner/SWP/Santana/ and maybe Lennon, and then if we did bring in Kaboul as well we would have a very strong squad, and if let's say we brought in a class striker like Huntelaar then we would be challenging the top 5 think.

Benitez is like a kid in a sweet shop...I'll have that, that and that...then he gets to the till and finds he aint got no money.

DoLpHiNaToR, i doubt MON would let it run right to the end of the season, i know he said he would but we would need a rapid replacment, and it would end into a little panic.

i realy do think if GB stays he ould be the key to champions league football next season

Kick him out, this is nonsense. If Barry is going to pull the plug he should do it now, he may want to join Liverpool and he obviously wants champions league football but he can't hate this club after all this time and its easy to see its damaging our potential for this season. If he lets this run to the end of the window I'll be dissapointed unless the WHOLE of Villa park boo him on his return, Rafa is dirupting our progress and Gareth is helping him. I want some action, either and apology and a statement telling Rafa there's no deal, or some kind of pre contract with a season long loan to Liverpool with the intention of a full payout by these other yanks. This is taking the pi ss.

I still think he will move BUT it would be the best piece of transfer news if he didn't! Pulling the plug on the move has GOT to come from GB though. Fingers crossed some truth in this

At the end of the day we need quality players on the pitch to push on so it would be handy if he stayed,However the man has embarrased himself with the way he has handled this whole thing.

we shouldnt get our hopes up again. THe scouse tossers will find the cash even if they have to print it themselves

In reality I think MON has no resigned himself to Barry leaving and is activiely looking to replace him [according to some rumours], so if he stays it will be a real bonus but MON is preparing for life without him so it doesn't matter how long it takes for him to go. It will be interesting to see if he's on the bench for the UEFA game next week - if he still here then. I am sure Barry was under the impression he would leave this week, and he must be gettign concerned - hos head must be 'all over the place'as MON says - he may well decide enough is enough though to get on and play some football and tell MON he wants to stay - it could happen. If he does stay than I don't think he'll ever go to 'pool after the way they have messed him around. I'm sure Barry's inistence that the deal was kept open was based on the fact he thought it would be wrapped up quickly!
