Boro Confirm Fee Agreed For Luke Young.

Boro Confirm Fee Agreed For Luke Young.

The official Middlesbrough site has confirmed that Luke Young is in talks with Aston Villa after the clubs agreed a fee for the right-back.

They say: The player is expected to start negotiations this morning at the West Midlands club.

How gutted would you be if you were a Boro fan or Gareth Southgate with a player coming in one season and wanting out the next?

Good news. Hope the fee's not ridiculous though for a 29-year old. Good solid defender and good going forward.

great news to be honest, i dont care how much, its a right back, thats was so desperately needed! get shorey in too and our defence is looking stronger than last season. Friedel in goal, MON is sorting out the leaky goals that were conceded

Really happy about this. He's a very good attacking right back something we've note seen for at least 3 years. Agree to get Shorey in too and we will be stronger at the back.

Wasn't saying 29 was old, I am almost there myself, it's just £5mil may be a bit on the pricey side. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy! Much better than having CG on the right in all due respect, and he can now concentrate on becoming a quality midfielder. Shorey is also solid although sometimes a bit slow, although Bouma's not the quickest anyway. We're more than compensated on the left with Ashley's pace! Good news all round!

It looks like the Generals words have had the required effect and kick started the transfer merrygoround. If the report from the Canaries is true, that we have bid for Dean Ashton and Anton Ferdinand for a total of £25m, then we are well on our way to building a competive team. The only question is why has it taken so long, they were all there six weeks ago. I hope it is because MON was waiting to see how the youngsters shaped up before commiting to the big spend.

I doubt the truth in the case of Ferdinand and Ashton but both are decent enough players. Chuffed with the addition of both Young and Shorey. Both solid full backs with competent capabilities in defence and going forward. Great business.

I get the feeling that MON was holding out for maybe another right back and that has now fallen though so he's gone for plan B. Either way - it's a signing!!! Praise the lord! (As long as he does sign.....)
