Friedel, Forget The Penalty Save!
Brad Friedel who saved a penalty on his debut v Reading said on the official site the penalty save wasn't important, this was just a getting to know you (oooh, time for a song, come on, join in: Getting to know you, Getting to know all about you. The 37-year-old Rovers legend saved a penalty within 10 minutes and looked the real deal between the sticks for Villa.
He told the official stie: (Can't get that bloody song out of my head now!)
'Forget the penalty save, it was more important that I got 90 minutes behind the new team. Saving a penalty is all fine and well but hopefully I don't have to face too many penalties this season. If I do, hopefully I can save them. Saturday was about getting my feet wet a little bit and letting the players know what I can do and also letting me find out what they can do. I'm really pleased so far with what I've seen at the club. We've got some really good talent. I know we have a small squad so we're going to have to be careful and try to keep everyone as fit as possible through the season or quickly add to the squad.'

Glad he had a good debut i think he will be brilliant for us between the sticks , am more than a little concerned though we have given away 3 pens (i think ) in pre season .

A sign of things to come! A brilliant aquisition for Villa and MON. Now get the others in. I too like nick1 am concerned though of the number of penalties we have conceded!
