Davies To Miss Start Of Season........

Not bloody likely! Curtis Davies completed another 62 minutes in last nights friendly against Reading and thoroughly enjoyed the test against Leroy Lita and Kevin Doyle as he continues to defy expectations as he recovers from a ruptured Achilles tendon.

Martin O'Neill is still cautious with the player, nobody wants him to breakdown after all this hard work, but Davies is putting him in a position where it's hard not to select him, or think of him as playing a part in our first UEFA match.

Speaking on the official site, Davies said:

'I want to get back as soon as I can and hopefully Saturday's game has given the gaffer some idea of where I am. Now I want to push for that UEFA Cup qualifier.

'I feel good after the game. Obviously Leroy Lita and Kevin Doyle were giving us the run-around because that's the type of players they are. They like to get balls down in the channels to keep running at you but that's the type of game I needed.

'The standard of Reading's strikers is the standard you will play against in the Premier League because they're both very good strikers and I feel I came through alright.'

Is it time we nicknamed Davies the Terminator? He just won't stay down!

Good work! This boy's going to be a Villa legend!

Oi! we can do without that headline, thank you very much! Good to see him back, the lads class.
steff_the_villan
Its great news, he makes a lot less mistakes than knight and looked good when he had his little cameo before injury struck again.
chris the villan
Fast becoming my favourite player, i love the enthusiasm he has to play football, and you can see this is the type of player MON wants. The way he talked about looking at the new shirt and wanting to play in it was brilliant to hear.
AstonMartinOneill
Great player, great attitude.

Lovely stuff. Davies & Laursen (if they can both stay fit) can be a class partnership.
lurman
Hice to hve you back Curtis , about time we had some good news regarding Villa !
Villan57

super lionel martin
Became a bit concerned when i read the article name lol. His partnership with Laursen with be very important this season, hopefully they can hit off str8 away again! Great news that he is back sooner than expected thou!
JOHN.CAREWS.CREW
He will learn so muh from Laursen, that in a few years time he really will be a top defender! Great for the defenders also knowing that Freidel is behind them in goal, just need a couple of solid full backs!
JOHN.CAREWS.CREW
I expect him to succeed and surpass Ferdinand in the England set up one day not to far.

Is everyone leathered today? The spelling in the comments seem a little off compared to the norm ;)
johnnyuk
johnnyuk, "leathered"! Lol, haven't heard that for ages. It's a bit early to say this but I hope Davies goes on to be as good as McGrath was for us but without the injuries and of course the drink. Whilst Curtis was looking at the new villa shirt with pride, GB was eyeing up the scouse top! Good attitude Curtis.

This lad is going to be a top player.
lerneravfc
that headline is not even funny. What are you trying to do to us!!!!! :)

When Davies is back fit and playing our central defence is awsome. Just need RB,LB now to make us more solid. We can't keep letting in soft goals like last season which probably lost us about 15 points last season!
bellywipes
agree tonybrum, vitalvillan is a very naughty boy!
The Fear
Fear - I've been away for the weekend with no PC and come back to that headline. There was a sharp intake of breath as I waited for the page to load. Also while I was away it appears there was shocking news that Gareth Barry has decided he wants to go to liverpool. Well he kept that one quiet.........
tonybrum
Best news of the summer, the successful battle back to full fitness of Curtis Davies. We desperately need him back in the starting line-up. A couple of decent full backs, and what with Brad Friedel in goal, we'll start having a defence worthy of the name.
glensider
Agree with our good friend los_angeles_villan. A future England central defender, no doubt about it. The central defensive partnership of Martin Laursen and Curtis has a real solid look about it. Hopefully we wont be shipping goals left right and centre this season.
