Brad Guzan Work Permit Granted

I do like good news days!

US International goalkeeper Brad Guzan has been granted his work permit so can make his move from Major League Soccer team Chivas USA to Villa.

The official site say the 23-year-old shot stopper is 'widely seen as one of the hottest prospects in the MLS' and to prove it won the MLS goalkeeper of the year award last season.

Yeah, 2 keepers on the bench for premier league games as we don't have enough players otherwise!

Daft question but has any else noticed he is going bald? If he is its unfortunate for a man of 23, maybe he should shave it like Brad Snr.

Villa have now set the world record for the most number of American goalkeepers named Brad at any one club.

We need prioirity signings of a LB, RB, RM, CF (20+goals /season) Mattock for LB (only 18 so cover for Bouma and 1 for the future) Miguel for RB (Experienced european player) SWP/Lennon/Downing for RM Gudjohnsen for CF (Experiened in european football, would help bring gabby on) On top of this we need squad players for CB, LM and CM. Assuming Barry stays!

I think the best 1st team we could put out today would be a 3-5-2 formation. CB>Laurson-Knight-Davis LWB>Barry RWB>Gardener Hold>Reo-Coker Attacking CM> Sidwell-Young with Gabby and Carew CF.

remember when united signed Tim Howard and hardly anyone had heard of him and he turned out to be a prem quality keeper at least. Maybe Villa have pulled off another American keeping jem.

My mate in America who's into "soccer" real big, says that Guzan is an outstanding keeper who regularly pulls off saves that make you gasp!! I think Brad Senior will be good to have at the club too - help Junior to settle in!!

After spending 2 years with the Chicago Fire Reserves in the USL Premier Development League he chose to forgo the rest of his college years, signing a Generation adidas contract with MLS. Chivas USA drafted Guzan with the second overall pick of the 2005 MLS SuperDraft. // Thats cleared that up then???

Well, thats the goalkeeper position sorted, A GREAT signing and will be a backup to Brad Freidel until he finally retires, and then he should be the number 1, but now, where do you reckon this leaves Stuart Taylor, he is a very good keeper IMO, but now that Brad Freidel and now Brad Guzan have come in, he will no doubt be the 3rd choice keeper. I think we should loan Taylor out for the season so he can get some first team football, but have the option of a recall just in case.

So for all we old timers let go for Keith Bradley next - he was a full back.

Welcome Brad(s), im pleased as punch but guys. S. Taylor isn't exactly a pub side player. I'm watching the 96" league cup final where we show Leeds what it's about but something sticks out. We wouldn't of come close without M. Draper & A. Wright. Call me old fashioned (28yrs by the way). But Full backs are key (any basic defense). Barry, in or out, as my hero it hurts me to say it's irrelevant. The fact Is I support the Villa not Barry and we will move on (sooner rather thAn later though)> Not al will agree but at least this will give us something to talk bout other than "Barry". P.S Townsend, yorke, Savo, Bosnich, Southgate, etc etc. You guys that are picking at MON need to remember how good we can be & how ***** we we're before he arrived. UTV.

S. Taylor should be number 2. He's a good keeper and Little Brad is a unproven keeper with big, strong centre forwards running at him. (except for players called Brad (no punn intended) & Mike. When we got bollocked by Arsenal last Season, S. Taylor stopped it being double figures.

Ian Taylor just got the second, ALAN wright...mustard but Townsend is instrumental in all of it. (some of you remember & some of you think im rambling.)....... you decide. and *****ting on the City is bellowing round Wembley.. how I waa raised, that's how it's supposed to be.

Guzan has a lot to work at and improve upon, he's certainly not yet the finished article. He's a gamble, but if he comes off, it will be a good piece of business by MON. His handling is suspect, correcting that has to be his number one priority.

Pity there aren't any decent full backs over there in the colonies, seeing as MON cant locate any either here in the U.K. or out there in europe.
