shall we stick with barry now then. I would, regardless.
tonybrum
No way, he can't captain this club again. He can play but to make him captain again, people would think he was untouchable, which he isn't. with the way Barry's acted Martin should touch him just to prove that.
PTP
Laursen then. I wouldn't have a coronary if NRC got the armband. He likes to yell and gets in there-captain stuff for sure.
gwyllum18
think laursen will be a bit on the busy side to be captain. He's going to have to spend the full 90 mins just shouting at Knight to keep him awake.
tonybrum
tonybrum, that's had me on the deck for about 20 minutes. I believe he'll earn the captains armband back once he gets his head past this whole saga. As bitten as we all feel about this situation, once that transfer window shuts we'll soon be singing his name. (not a LB though). Where are the defenders????
TMorley
PTP, i dont think MON should 'touch' him, i did that once, spent the afternoon in HR and then the day after in the job centre. i told them it was natural, that my daddy used to do the same to me, but they weren't buying it.
bobbyfett
No he should touch him, maybe we'll see how Bendtner plays this season and make our judgment then because you KNOW Wenger touched him after that goal line block against Liverpool last season. Just look what its done for Walcott as well, everyone needs a father finger in their life, or something like that.
PTP
How are people even contemplating giving Barry the armband back? I don't understand it. I'm tired of all this fickleness. Has he apologised? Has he commited himself to the club? Has he signed a new contract? Errm NO, NO and NO. If you think this is how a club captain should behave and is role model behaviour for the likes of Gabby and Young then you need to get a grip.
Villan-in-Cyprus
Word.
PTP
It's clear to me now that giving Barry the captaincy, a new 3 year, 7mill+ contract at the end of last year was O'Neill wanting Barry to pledge himself to the Villa. It failed so why not give the captaincy to someone can inspire the team. NRC would be my choice.
villacross
Agree villacross, got to be our Nigel. I think it would be the making of him as a Villan. He displays genuine leadership qualities week in, week out, and is certainly the most vocal. I personally think that he's the obvious choice.
glensider
Surely we cant even consider allowing Gareth to captain the side? It will be very interesting to see who leads us out at Reading on Saturday.
glensider
i would bet my house that Barry won't be captain this year. If he is MON should be shot. He doesn't even want to play for us. However, i'll be glad if he stays because he is a good player and we really need his quality whether he wants to play for us or not.
liamo1981
glensider - I'd like to see him give it to Brad Friegel or even Carew for this one game - just hope he leaves Barry on one side; at least until we know whether he's prepared to accept a long term commitment to us.
villacross
Sorry guys - Brad Friedel not Friegel.
villacross
fat boy barry should not be the captain. He has said in public he doesnt want to play for the club so to have him as captain would be a terrible move.
wislor
Exactly Glen, its clear NRC would love the opportunity and it would help his game alot. He's also come out with the right things for it, saying it would be an honour to captain such a prestigous club and what not. He's also the most confident player we have on the pitch, although I'm sure Laurson would be a great captain, we've had the lead by example type before and its time we got a captain that will get into the players.
PTP
I wish he would just leave tbh........ its been going on so long now its tiresome.
col8
I wish someone would put an end to this asap, its driving us all up the walls. hand in your transfer request or announce your staying..
