Villa Children, Please Behave!

Villa Children, Please Behave!

Patrik Berger has had a parting shot at Martin O'Neill.

The 34-year-old former Liverpool and Portsmouth midfielder, who has returned to his home club of Sparta Prague, says that Martin O'Neill treats players like children by not talking to them face to face. This will no doubt fan the flames although now he has left, I don't suppose it particularly matters.

He was suspended from the club for talking about Gareth Barry and the possibility of moving to Liverpool,

'I don't see any reason to change my opinion - nobody can fine me now. I just said what I thought would be best for Gareth but the manager fined and suspended me from the training ground. It was the manager's decision but I was surprised because we went through my comments in the papers in his office and I went home. But the next day I got a letter to my house saying I was banned and fined - he was not even strong enough to tell me eye-to-eye.'

'Gareth got a similar letter but we are adults not children and can face it - I would prefer he'd just told me straight.'

Many will say this is just a bitter former player, but it has to be remembered that players are mates and see the treatment of others. Hopefully Martin O'Neill's near legendary man management status is more than a match for this though! :o)

Is there a point in the comments though? We all hear the positives, do we ignore the negatives as a bitter comment from an ex player?

The only reason he was with us last season was that one goal, yes it was a good one but we were terrorising them through that whole match. I hate that****, someone should do something about him, noone wants to listen to his b!tching and he's ****e anyway.

i'm wondering who he thought was listening, why he would even bother, and what hole he crawled out from.

He's just telling it as it is. Just because you lot dont agree with him doesnt make him wrong, nor should he keep his mouth shut. Barry would be better off at Anfield, with better players, playing in the Champions League. That is just how it is. Berger knows that, Martin O'Neill knows that and the Villa fans know that.

Well he never had a need to throw his toys out of his pram at other clubs & fall out with their managers!

he's so ungrateful, 29 games in 3 seasons and a fantastic sick pay packet. He could have at least kept his mouth shut, but then he's already proved he can't do that.

trader, if Liverpool had the money Barry would already be there, but it isn't going to happen so whats better for Barry or not, and whatever you seem to think people know, is irrelevant. As it stands I'm surprised Liverpool have got enough £££'s to stack the food kiosks for the half-time rush.

trader you're an idiot...he should keep his mouth shut thats what got him in trouble in the first place, Barry wouldn't be better off with the doley's playing 1 game in 3 and second fiddle to Alonso, that wouldn't help his england chances, the doley's may have some better players and be in the CL, so thats two good points how about the in-fighting at board level, how about a manager who has to check the charity tins to fund transfers, how about a club who can't afford to move stadiums 'cos no-one will lend them the money 'cos they're a bad bet, how about the manager looking over his shoulder to see who's going to stab him in the back first. Liverpool were great but not any longer, they're also rans who are going no-where.
