Friedel Confirmed, Signed, Sealed and Delivered

Brad Friedel has put pen to paper on the 3 year deal with Villa.

Talks with the player were successfully concluded yesterday, and he becomes the latest (latest of many we hope) additions to Martin O'Neill's squad.

There's no doubt Friedel will be an immense goalkeeper for us, and he certainly help the development of Guzan should he finally arrive and have a positive impact on our back four.

Just got back from the game, was nice that he was able to come and say hi to the Villa fans! Listening to Dean Saunders just (recorded the build up to the game, sad really!) he said what a great keeper he is, hardly ever makes a mistake BUT most importantly, speaks to the defenders better than any keeper he's known. Maybe he'll have a good effect on Zat who nearly gave a goal away again today!
The Fear
Yea, the outcome of the game could have been different if their striker had scored. The lads seemed out of it for a while as well after Bouma's horrific injury! He will prove to be a massive player for the club - great signing!
JOHN.CAREWS.CREW
good short term signing, he's a good keeper, a good signing!
merlin
As i've said before, he was my first choice signing. I know he won't do a Barry and give us 10 years but he's first class. If he was between the sticks for our last season I believe we would have run Liverpool very close for fourth.
The Usual Suspect
Very happy with this signing. Arguably the best goalkeeper in the prem. I believe he will gain us a few more vital points this season, which could make all the difference.
Nigel-not-Reo
I thought the holte end humour was top drawer when Brad came on to be presented to us at half time. CAN YOU PLAY THE SECOND HALF was the cry from the holte. God knows what Stuart Taylor thought of that.
50 years a villan
Indeed 50 years a villan.Taylor did well to-night but it looks like he is surplus to requirements at VP.I'm not sure I know why.
happyvillan
Wekcome to VP, excellent signing, defence can relax a bit and have some confidence in the person between the sticks, Taylor did well tonight, wish him well whatever he decides to do.

can anyone tell me what happened to boom boom bouma. news on the villa and indeed football front here in NZ is shocking. please somebody enlighten me. well done the villa for getting thru a tricky tie and welcome to our first but not last Brad! "now i'm feelin brad allover, yes i'm, brad allover cos your mine" the holte sing along next season. oh to be there.........................
holte ender 1969
Sorry, just seen it on another thread. Get well soon freddy!

Good news good signing. Now its all bout defenders, no RB or LB and we have Zat.
AussieVilla
Freidel is an excellent signing. About the match, we really got let off when they hit the post and Taylor made a great save. It is a shame he'll be behind the Brads in the pecking order.
SuperTommyJohnson
A problem position hopefully solved. A good piece of business by MON. No time to pat ourselves on the back though. There's still some serious rebuilding to be done. Welcome aboard Brad.

Hopefully Brad wont age even faster playing behind that defence of ours, particularly now a little bit more quality and experience will be lost to us with the absence of Freddie.
