Friday Villa Press Talk.... Shhhhhhhh!

Friday Villa Press Talk.... Shhhhhhhh!

The rumours have all but dried up, maybe now the rumours will end and the real action will start.

The press are all over the goalkeeper stories today, they all claim that Blackburn Rovers are about to sign Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson which will give the green light for Villa to make the move for Brad Friedel. Chairman John Williams has again been quoted, this time he said: 'We have made good progress with our bid, but there are still some details to sort out.'

Apart from that, I can only see the story that Villa are trying to hijack the Sunderland move for Spurs defender Younes Kaboul. The 22-year-olds agent had said that Kaboul wouldn't be interested in the move even if there was an earthquake (or something as equally ridiculous) but since then the press have been suggesting he was about to move to the Stadium Of Light. The report I have seen today states: 'PA Sport understands Villa tabled an undisclosed offer for the Tottenham man at the 11th hour with the Morocco-born player due to head for Wearside for a medical today. Kaboul has now asked the Black Cats for more time, and Keane will have to keep his fingers crossed as he looks to land his second new signing this week.'

The rest of the press talk today centres on Craig Gardner saying he can fill the right-back void and the obvious statements being picked apart by Martin O'Neill yesterday about there still being a place for Gareth Barry and that Villa would still like him to stay.

I have a source close to Villa and his cat told me yesterday that Villa are definitely set to sign at least two to three players within the next 12 months. Folks, you heard it here first, Vital Villa, always with our ears to the ground, mostly because people keep pushing us over.

PLEASE Martin PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE will you get us a RIGHTBACK? I for one, will be seriously seriously seriously p issed off if we start the season without this position filled. It is quite frankly, unacceptable. No excuses. No IF's. No BUT's. No MAYBE's. Get them in and get it sorted. NOW.

Gardner is an ok player on the wing or midfiled but at right back he looks out of sorts... we need somebody and fast.. can kaboul play RB..??

Heather Mills would do a better job at RB than Gardner

2 ****ing years without a right back. It's not good enough. I can't take anymore of this "We're hoping to try and improve the team" crap. FFSAKE we're a Premier League club, there is no excuse. If his targets are unavailable then bring in someone else, there are hundreds of natural right backs!!! Even a mediocre one from the championship would be better than playing Gardner or NRC out of position. I don't understand what the problem is.

Am alone in preferring Robinson over Friedel?

Have we even had a recognised right back since Delaney left? We had that chappie on loan and Olaf the hairy (God bless him) but no-one recognised and on the books. Grrrrrrrr. BLEEDIN' SIGN SOMEONE! Can we at least cover the 6-8 losses since the end of the season when even then we had low numbers. It just doesn't make sense to me. At least (God forgive me for saying this) with Doug we knew we weren't making signings coz he was tight! I'm sorry, i'll chill out in a minute, just part of the emotianal merrygoround that is being a Villa fan :o)

I agree with Cyprus. And can't spell. How comes we are missing out on the good players to clubs like Sunderland and Blackburn?!?!? Crazy.

Because we don't have any money to buy players with!

I disagree, I think there's giant war chest but MON is too much of a .perfectionest that if he can't have his exact target he'd rather go without. I'd be happier if we brought in some average Joe Bloggs on a 12 month contract with no risk involved than no one at all!
