The Sun are reporting yesterdays internet story, that Aston Villa have bid £5million 6ft 7in Valencia striker Nicola Zigic. The price is an amazing loss if true as they paid £16m for him last year. The red top quotes Juan Sanchez, who they call 'Valencia bigwig' which is an interesting title to say the least (!), as saying: 'Zigic and his agent know about Villa's offer and we expect a decision in the coming days.' The Daily Mail also cover the story for the 27-year-old giant striker who apparently turned down a loan move to Portsmouth last season.
The Daily Mirror claim that Villa are looking to sign Blackburn keeper Brad Friedel for £2m (other reports say £2.5m) as a stop gap so we can go back for Wolves shot stopper Wayne Hennessey next year. Also reported on Vital Wolves Click Here The paper says that Wolves won't sell him this season as they look to push for the Premiership but that MON will return if Wolves fail to come up this time around.
According to the Daily Star Kevin Keegan and the Newcastle board are at loggerheads over James Milner. The paper claim the board are willing to sell the winger for £10million, but Keegan has made it clear that the former England U21 midfielder is in his plans. Trouble at t'mill? The Times say that Liverpool are set to bid for Milner.
The Independent are covering the story we reported yesterday that Blackburn would sell David Bentley but only at the 'right price' which is reportedly around £18million, which is fair enough when you think we have the same price tag on the head of Gareth Barry! Bentley Wanted By 21% & Would Cost A Packet!
Setanta.com have an article on Spurs defender Younes Kaboul. Harry Redknapp is a potential suitor but the Pompey boss things that we will beat them to the punch. Roy Keane at Sunderland has had a bid accepted by Kaboul's agent told setantasports.com that the player would not join Sunderland 'even if there was an earthquake'. Redknapp told the Portsmouth News 'I would like a centre-half. Younes Kaboul wants to come here, but I heard Kaboul is going to Villa. I don't think there is anything he can do about it. If Villa are in for him he may have to go there. We made an offer with what we thought was a fair valuation but if we want some players in we also need to sell a few.' Eh?! Me no understand. That said, me no really care either!
The Daily Mail carry an article today saying that Villa's £10 million signing Curtis Davies is expected back earlier than first thought from his ruptured Achilles injury. O'Neill said: 'He's doing remarkably well and has actually been training with us,' said O' Neill. 'We thought it would take a bit of time so it's a surprise for us and a credit to him and the medical staff who have looked after him brilliantly.'
Other links today according to the gossip page of the official site are Man Utd's Danny Simpson, a story which emerged yesterday and claimed a potential loan deal and also a repeat of the link to West Ham's Robert Green.
