Saturday's paper talk: Saturday's Villa Transfer Rumours

Martin O'Neill said after the 2-2 draw in the Inter that the result sets Villa up for next week at home. The Villa boss told the official site: 'We've drawn the game and scored two goals away from home. Considering the circumstances I'm reasonably satisfied. By the time we play them again next week we should be much fitter.' Yup, another week of training and a few new arrivals and off we go! Full article: O'Neill Says Intertoto Set Up Nicely For Villa

Vital Villa asked for your predictions for the Odense BK game. 13% were correct going for the draw. 43% voted win, 20% lose and 24% 'don't make me think about it!'

Earlier in the week we reported that Martin O'Neill has confirmed that Villa have bid for Blackburn Rovers and England midfielder David Bentley and that the club have rejected the bid. He says that his interest in the 23-year-old is therefore over and he will move on. :o( He also confirmed that he spoke with Gareth Barry and Barry still wants out. 'I've spoken to him this week and he reiterated a desire to join Liverpool. So the situation remains unchanged, we're still waiting to hear back from Liverpool.'

Thought for the day (Viz Letter): I'm beginning to think there may be something in this climate change after all. Four months ago it was very cold and now it's quite warm.

Climbing from 16th position to 6th, in a matter of just two seasons, has in my estimation been the relatively easy part of the long haul back. In truth the really hard work starts now, improving upon our sixth place finish. Its going to take a lot of hard work, a decent share of luck, a considerably stronger squad than we currently have, plus a lot of money. I keep waiting and hoping for one or two new arrivals to come marching through the Villa Park entrance door, hopefully by the next time 'The Villa Times' comes around, there will be exciting news to report, relating to a signing or three. Fingers crossed.
