Barry to Return to Aston Villa Training?

Aston Villa have announced that Gareth Barry will be returning to training tomorrow. One wonders if it means that he will be staying on this season?

In a strange move, it appears that the club will now allow it's (former?) captain to return to training from tomorrow.

Speculation will no doubt arise given the projected breakdown of a Liverpool deal that has stalled so long, that Carson is set to join Stoke or West Brom, Alonso isn't off to Juve, and Barry has been no doubt sat at home wondering what to do.

With projected Arsenal interest, it seems that Barry has been allowed to return to training, and the Gazza Bazza saga looks set to continue, possibly with the 10-year Villan set to stay at Villa Park?!

Bizarre times indeeed!

Or maybe its just because an unfit Barry is harder to sell. Either way it is a strange development.

They must have offered a derisory amount for him (£12m max plus donkeys). It's obviously linked to the Carson deal.

I wouldnt want him playing in the inter toto quite frankly and not even playing for the 1st team until 1st September or a new contract at the same rate of pay if not worse is agreed to

I reckon we wont use him in the ITC either way because that ruins any chance of a deal, if he doesn't play then he can still go on deadline day for a pack of fags and a mars bar!

Liverpool can't afford him, they needed to off load Alonso.

yes that its tarzan - liverpool are on a sell to buy and have no cash. They are signing players on frees left right and centre but can't afford any transfer fees. Now the alonso deal has fallen through all their posturing as a large club that can swan around and do as they like has backfired. They are broke - and everyone knows it.

Strange how Carson would cost us £10m, but Albion or Stoke £4m. No wonder Villa holding out for full price for GB. With Alonso going nowhere Tom Jones won't be able to afford GB I guess. Maybe Arsenal will come in? If GB is still with us by 1 September, I personally would be pleased, because HE IS STILL A TOP PLAYER and would enhance our squad. Whether a truce can be called between him the fans and MON waits to be seen, but he is TOO GOOD A PLAYER not to want in our squad ON OUR TERMS

Broke is a bit strong, but they expected us to buckle with an unhappy player and a 10m bid. But he's got 2 years left on his deal. They're playing the same game with Robbie Keane.
