Odense To Face Villa In Intertoto Cup

Villa now know their Intertwobob Cup opponents.

Odense beat TPS Turku 4-1 on aggregate to earn the right to play Aston Villa.

The official site say they will announce info on the away leg tomorrow. The home game will be played July 26 with a kick off time of 5:15pm - also to be screened on Setanta.

Wiki info:

The official team mascot is currently a blue and white tiger, hopefully it is prepared to be mauled by our claret and blue lions!

The homepage of their website is already advertising the fixture with a big pic of Laursen. They got to the group stages of the UEFA two seasons ago, 4 points in the four fixtures which seems pretty decent. Were in UEFA last year too, knocked out by Sparta Prague on penalties in the round before the group stages. They are manged by the Danish captain of the 1992 team, so likely will be well prepared. Thomas Helveg currently plays for them, though a bit old he got 108 caps for Denmark. Not easy by the look of it I´d say.

I agree, some people seem to think we've already qualified for the whole UEFA thing, we're not even qualified for the qualifiers yet and there's going to some tough matches coming up.

Have to be optimistic before a game surely?! That said, do agree, no easy matches but I expect a win.

Its good to be optimistic, but I'm sure MON won't be taking it easy, on the 26th July we could be in europe and we would still have a month to buy better quality players. I'm sure that is in MONs mind and also the minds of some of our targets.

Sky sports reported this this morning. The clip that they put with it was MON sat on a step outside a building texting on his phone sat with him was a very happy Randy Lerner talking and laughing with someone I didnt recognise... Not a massive thing I know (and the clip could be from ages ago) but I like to see our chairman and manager together, it makes me think that business is going on!

I wouldnt want to under-estimate a team that i have never heard of, Varteks were last i gave that treatment and they soon shut me up. Martin O'Neill is described by many fans as the Messiah, well only time will tell whether he is the one who will take us back to Europe. UEFA Cup here we come.
