The Sunday Aston Villa Transfer Gossip Round Up

The transfer gossip this summer really has been a bit dull hasn't it? The papers usually make up, sorry I meant report, far better links than we've had, maybe the smoking ban has meant they spend less time in the pubs??!!

The Sunday Mercury claim Villa are after French midfielder Nicolas Marin. Mercury Sport understands the Lorient star's representative flew out of Zurich last week to hold talks about a possible deal during Villa's pre-season tour.

Various papers are reporting the deal struck for Chivas goalkeeper Brad Guzan. The price differs from 1million to 2million depending on which paper you read!

According to Rob Beasley, 'The bitter war of words' between Villa and Liverpool could well scupper any dream Gareth Barry has of moving to Anfield. The paper claims that the deal was close and Barry was set to have a medical today after talks between Randy Lerner and Rick Parry. However Martin O'Neill has denied this, or as the paper puts it, 'angrily denied' it!

The Sunday Express repeat the link to Arsenal for the Villa skipper, or is that ex skipper now?

According to Vital Blackburn, Brad Friedel, who has been linked to both Villa and Manchester City, will be going nowhere with the Rovers chairman stating Brad is in Paul Ince's plans and is not for sale. Click Here

Bit boring. Marin sounds like that Frenchman O'Dreary spent all summer chasing and then never played. Even forgotten his name now. We still haven't spent the money gained for Luke and Cahill - if we assume that Davies came from last year's funds.

Randy was never going to speak to Parry. They have left all the talks to his PA as even MON won't talk to the side in Liverpool who are so worried about retaining their 4th place.
Villan444
It is Paul Faulkner, director at Villa, who has been dealing with them, so as you say, they are wrong in that article from the get go!
The Fear
Nicolas Marin is a joke. At least, Mathieu Berson was performing well in the French league when he signed at Villa. But Nicolas Marin is a joke. No way he has Premier League level, and no way should he play for Villa...

Hmmmm not what I was hoping for when I signed back in after a weekend away.

The clock is ticking. Come on Martin, an extra push to get these much needed new faces on board please. Lot of talk, little concrete action. All Hail MON.

Paul Faulkner is doing a superb job in handling the GB 'transfer' with Liverpool. He is to be applauded for his determined stance.
