USA Keeper Brad Guzan Fee Agreed

Villa have agreed a fee with Chivas for goalkeeper Brad Guzan.

The 24-year-old hinted yesterday that he thought all would be concluded in the next day or so and has now told ESPN:

'It's been absolutely unbelievable. Obviously being able to stay at a club for three-and-a-half years, learning and growing as a player, as a person. I've been very thankful for Chivas USA and everything they've done for me. And obviously the league has made tremendous strides, and hopefully it'll keep going in the right direction.'



According to the Express & Star the fee is in the region of £1million and quote Jorge Vergara, a part-owner of the Chivas confirming:

'He’s leaving for Europe, to England specifically, and we’re very happy and very glad that another Chivas player is going to Europe.'

Villa are also still being linked to another American shot stopper, with fresh reports saying we are after Blackburn Rovers 37-year-old Brad Friedel.

To be fair Gordonsleftfoot I think it was Glensiders Brother-in-law who gave the opinion on Guzan. It's been reported on sky that the bid has been accepted.

wasn't the work permit complication a result of a lack of international caps - i can only assume he's got enough now - he played against england etc.

i'm quite pleased with this, mon is getting the most for little cash. 2 million is really small change. Not sure why so many fans want him to an understudy to another keeper. Surely guzan will now have to play 75% of our league games so he can get his visa renewed, however i might be wrong. I think the lad will be our first choice

He still hasn't signed yet but did he not get MLS player of the year or something like that so he must be uesful.

Apparently he's only got 5 caps. How is that enough? Hope he's as good as Kasey Kellar!!!

According to sky text it's expected to around £750,000 not the £2-million as before.

I hope he has been brought in to develop as a number two (could have used better terminology) and not as the starting keeper!!!!
