'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Marc To Make His Mark

Marc Albrighton could make his senior Villa debut when Villa face FC Wil tonight.

The Tamworth born winger signed a new two year deal last week and has dreams of making his mark this season.

The youngster helped the U18's to Academy League glory last season and was also a regular in the title winning reserves.

He's delighted to have been called away for the Swiss tour, and sees this as his chance to really impress O'Neill.

Speaking on the official site he said:

'This will be a big year for me and one I have set myself some goals for.

'I want to try and play a part in the reserve side this year and maybe try and force a loan spell at a club somewhere to gain experience.

'With the Intertoto Cup coming up soon, there may be a chance to be a part of that. We have a smallish squad at the moment, so it could be a good chance for some of the young guys to impress.'

Good for him, I hope he and the other youngsters all get on the pitch during the tour at some point and gain some invaluable experience.

Think out of all the youngsters, Stieber is the one who im looking forward to the most. Looked impressive when given his chance in last seasons preseason, hopefully we will get to see more of him over the season.

I like this kid a lot. It's him and Forrester for me as the ones to watch. Wonder why Forester aint in the squad?

I dont think that young Harry Forrester is ready yet if I'm honest. I think he needs some regular reserve team football under his belt before we start pushing his claims.

This will be good experience for Marc Albrighton, a youngster who I thought came on in leaps and bounds last season. He deserves the opportunity.

Must be so exciting being on the verge like that. I'm just on the top of the hill and about to tumble down the wrong side! Still, at least I have my dignity... cough cough...!

Better to be headding off the top of the hill than to have never reached the peak.
