Hokey Cokey For Captain?
Nigel Reo-Coker has said he would love to take on the Villa's armband full time this season.
Former England U21 and Wet Spam captain led Villa out against Liverpool ironically, in the one match Barry missed last season, and with Barry 'almost' at Liverpool, the captain competition seems to be between Hokey and Laursen.
Speaking to the official site, Mr Motivator said:
'To be handed the captaincy would be a real honour.'
However Hokey Cokey knows that Martin O'Neill may well change things around during our friendlies, and a solid decision on our next captain will not come until much closer to the season. Potentially, not until after the Intertwobob either.
'We haven't really spoken about that. We don't know what the situation is over what is going to be happening or who's going to be captain.
'I led out the side at Liverpool and we did really well that night and did enough to win. For me I am already used to playing with the weight of expectation on my shoulders. It is nothing new to me.
'I did it at West Ham and I was under-21 captain. Being captain is a declaration and regardless of whether I have the armband or not I will still be as vocal as I always am and be as determined to win and aggressive as I always have and will be.'

NRC would be a great captain. Laursen would also be good, but I prefer the more vocal captains like NRC. Get in there son!

i would prefer laursen from the two, unforunately laursen isnt vocal enough and NRC is to undisciplined. i say give it to Bouma hes a good mix of both

to give Lausen the captains armband would be like a long term contract, just like Barry..:P I'm very sure Hockey will get it, as he is a MON signing. and mon loves his signings...

maybe one of his new signings will be the new captain...but i would think it would be NRC without a shadow of a doubt. John Carew anyone ;)

Should never have taken it from Olof, ok its easy to say in hindsight but he may have possibly stayed!

I think that I'd give it to NRC. I think that he'd thrive on it, and it would probably help bring out the best in him. He comes across as the natural leader out of our current squad, vocal and demanding, and the experience that he'd gained while captaining West Ham United and the England under 21's would stand him in good stead.

John Carew is certainly an interesting suggestion JOHN.CAREWS.CREW, and while I personally wouldn't argue against you, I think that MON will hand the role to either NRC or Martin Laursen.

I wouldn't neccesarily have a problem with NRC but I'm not sure I agree with... 'I led out the side at Liverpool and we did really well that night and did enough to win.'... Erm, that's not quite how I remember the game. I remember watching one of the worst performances of the season which was rescued by Marlon's substitute appearance. Yes we nearly won but it would have been a very lucky victory. I wouldn't expect a permanent captain to be named until the start of the season.

I would go for NRC simply because he is more vocal im a believer that the captain should be the best motivator on the pitch. I would give vice captain to Laursen.

NRC is loud and attacks the ball-good captain qualities. Give him the armband. As well, he is a totally dedicated believer.

I think the fact that MON made him captain against Liverpool, tells us all we need to know. Dont think Laursen is really in with a shout, its between NRC and Sidwell.

Sidwell!!!,he hasn't even signed yet.I'd be fine with NRC but you don't have to be vocal to be a good captain,just lead by example like Johnno did for England in Rugby.My choice would be Laursen brings all the right qualities.
