Discipline and No Final Bid

Martin O'Neill has dismissed reports that Liverpool have made a 'take it or leave it' 15 million offer for Barry, but he has been disciplined over his comments in the NotW.

I believe Liverpool have also gone to press in stating that no offer has been made as was rumoured earlier today, so Gareth must be absolutely chuffed that Liverpool still haven't come back in for him.

After his reported quotes in the News of the World - I'm still thinking it was third party via his agent with his permission, or he did in fact develop a case of the chavs - the club have disciplined him.

In a short statement O'Neill said:

'There's no truth in this morning's reports and the situation remains the same.

'Gareth will not be returning to training tomorrow and he has been disciplined after giving an unauthorised interview to the News of the World.'

Perfect response by the club, Barry would do well to remember who pays his wages.

Whether those quotes came out of his mouth, or his agents, the club's response prove the validity of them and to be disciplined he had to authorise it.

A very stupid boy.

Barry is rapidly losing the respect of football fans across the country though this is being fuelled by the outrageous behaviour of Benetiz. Since when did Liverpool become the Real Madrid of the Premiership?
What a silly boy you are Gareth. I think this is what most of us predicted. Once again, AVFC have conducted themselves outstandingly and given Barry the reality check he was in great need of. Nice one gaffer.
fair play Villa. About time someone gaves this jumped up pr1ck a kick up the 4rse, although it's a smokescreen, No point in him training if he's a Liverpool player come the weekend!
What will happen if redscouse don't come in with another bid? GB you are a complete numpty!!
I still don't think he'll go during this transfer window. The club have made it quite clear that the price is non-negotiable.
Glad he hs been disciplined, he showed a total lack of respect for the club with those comments to the press.
no footballer should ever be bigger than his club.
it is refreshing to see that MON stands his ground in this belief.
if the reds**te dont come in with an improved offer i think barry needs to look no further than thomas sorensen in that he publicly criticised MON last year and was then left to rot in the reserves
Sorryson couldn't even get into the reserves!
I understand I am hardly a "friend" of Vital Villa - but let me commend your clubs actions...its time for player power to stop.
Cheers united4life. So are you gonna fine Ronaldo? I'm sure Fergy could cook up a reason . . .
Fair play united4life. As you have with Ronaldo, player power is far too powerful thesedays and it is killing the game. The sooner a contract actually means contracted again the better.
good shout united4life, people always think the grass is greener. it seems that numerous managers are putting there collective foot down, MON, fergie and wenger. what needs to be understood is that none of these teams need the money, whereas liverpool do!
Last post went because a naughty word didn't star out automatically. Sorry had no choice lol
Was it ****?
The word **** has obviously now been added to the filter. But well done for beating the swear sensor, mike_field.
If **** is what I think it was then yes, it slipped through somehow. Must have been well lubed! Wasn't me though, was another user and I've only just worked out how to edit posts in here so I unfortunately had to delete it.
So how can **** slip through the net, but not bluenose?
That's not what I meant. You know what I mean.
He sould have been fined 4 weeks wages for his performance against Wigan
Tarzan the lot of them should have been in all honesty on that Wigan performance!!!!
I love my club.
Villian-in-Cyprus: Was the ommitted word G****h or B***y!!!!!???? LOL
this is great, and once again agent Alex Blacks' magical advice is working a treat. yr a fool GB.
And this is before the other final bid or was the other final bid the final bid? All getting a bit tiresome now. Just go or stay.
Quality, MO'N gives Barry a taste of the Banstick!!
heh nice to know we're actually doing something about it, how long till other clubs start doing it? two weeks wages if you say you want leave without handing in a transfer request??? sounds like a great policy to have!!
I think it was probably the open critisism of the manager which resulted in the fine, not so much the transfer 'request'. Although a 2 year fine would be much more appropriate. No gappy, the word was **** which is short for G****h B***y.
England play Czech republic on the 20th Aug. If GB does not start proper training in the next 2 weeks he will not be fit to make the England squad.... I'd have him cleaning the under 8's(eights) boots till Lpool put in 18
This is turning really messy now, a sad state of events. MON had little option but to fine and discipline Barry, but the current scenario is no good for any of the parties involved.
He'll go Villan-in-Cyprus. A meeting of the ways will be agreed between us and the scousers. Benitez in the meantime just has to agree to meet the asking price. Well handled MON and RL.
I agree he will go glensider, I just can't see them coughing up all 18M before 31st August. Just as I can't see MON bending on the price. If Liverpool do buy Barry, then surely they'll blow their entire transfer budget? Bearing in mind that most liverpool fans don't want Barry, Benitez would be risking his job by doing this. I believe Liverpool will pull out of negotiations with a pathetic final offer in the hope that Villa will bottle it at the end of August and sell cheaply. Which we won't.
