'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Lee Naylor - Wolf, to Hoop, to Villan.

No quotes, but if rumours are correct O'Neill is interested in signing former Wolves left back Lee Naylor from Celtic.

It is believed that Naylor, 28, would provide cover for Wilf, and that any kind of deal could see the return of Shaun Maloney who (broken record on) is unsettled at Villa Park (broken record off).

Naylor has a superb first season for Celtic after his move, but has struggled for form lately, and with only a year left on his contract is believed to want another crack at the Premiership before hanging up his boots.

Fans with long memories will remember Naylor turning out for Wolves in the 03/04 season, where they finished bottom.

For those who think Naylor has no pedigree, he was capped at England U21 level and in 06/07 was on the shortlist for the Scottish Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year Award.

But that could just take you back to Maloney.

What makes me laugh is that Lee Naylor, 28 is wanting one last crack at the Premiership before hanging up his boots!!! Hang on Dean Windass is 40 and the oldest in the league, thats 12 years older than Naylor, when is he planning to retire? Good back up player I think, we need depth. Plus he has something Barry doesnt, CL experience!! Haha!!
young_jonah
Ok maybe I should've said a desire to end his career in the Premiership or something like that - he's not planning to retire! He just wants another crack at the Prem BEFORE his eventual retirement in probably the next 6-7 years!!!
ps astonsteve, chill on the comments will you. We are talking about the story, not the person who writes it.

this might have more substance to it than you think. it broke 2 days ago on a celtic website by a guy who's usually very reliable for a heads up on transfer news. besides, i thought you lads would be quite looking forward to having and actual full back at full back as oppossed to a big strapping centre back

i wasnt jokin !

he used to be my bloody next door neighbour when he was at wolves !! i liked him alot n thought i was cool to live next door to him but i dnt really think that he is good enough !!

I think Shaun Maloney is the better player and in that case, IMO, the deal should not be done as a straight swap. But if Shaun is to go in the deal i would hope to expect the 1 Million back from what we payed Celtic for him. So 1 Million + Naylor for Maloney.
villa for ever
Never thought much of him during his time at The Molinuex, and I must admit ,I have serious reservations as to his ability to make it as a premiership left full-back.

When we thumped 'em 4-0 at The Molinuex, he looked so far out of his depth it wasn't true.
