Young Hopefuls

Young Hopefuls

12 Young Lions have been rewarded for a successful Academy/Reserve season with contracts. It looks like the next crop are well on their way.

Academy stars include U18 skipper Ciaran Clark, Barry Bannan and the Aussie pair Chris Herd and Shane Lowry.

Jordon Collins did enough to impress and deserve longer, despite spending last season on the treatment table.

Jordan Collins - monthly rolling
Chris Herd - 2 yrs
Jonathan Hogg - 2 yrs
Shane Lowry - 2 yrs
Tobias Mikaelsson - 1 yr
Same Williams - 1 yr
Marc Albrighton - 2 yrs
Barry Bannan - 2 yrs
Ciaran Clark - 2 yrs
Elliot Parish - 1 yr
Matthew Roome - 1 yr
Sam Simmonds - 1 yr

Most fans will find Barry Bannan the most notable name in that list, after a season full of rave reviews and eye catching displays.

The Scot won Player of the Tournament by a lcear margin at both the Hong Kong Sevens and during the club's summer tour of Germany.

In other Academy news, the following friendlies have been announced and the Young Lions kick off the 2008-09 season with a home friendly against Doncaster Rovers on August 2nd.

Both the U18 and U16 face Rovers and kick off is at 12pm. (noon, afternoon, midday, my breakfast - whichever makes more sense).

The U18's also play Plymouth Argyle at Bodymoor Heath on Aug 9th (kick off is 1pm), while the U16's face Newport County (kick off 11am).

You've been reading the Official site again? Why repeat old news? Does anyone on here have something to tell we don't know?

I'm sorry Jinxy, not working on the official site and having a life of my own I don't always manage to beat them to the news or manage to post it at exactly the same time they do. My teachers always said I should work harder - but I did have a low tolerance for idiots. PS - I don't copy and paste, that would be plagurism.

OK YOU TYPE IT WORD FOR WORD THEN. It's much quicker copying & pasting. Then you can get back to that life of yours & have more time reading the official site & news now. COPY & PASTE IT'S the future. Here is my example it's easy. ght winger Bentley, formerly of Arsenal, has grown unsettled at Ewood Park after the Lancashire club failed to secure European football for next season. And the creative player has recently revealed that he is looking for a new challenge, despite the recent appointment of Paul Ince at the club. According to reports in the British media, Tottenham and Villa now lead the chase despite their being a large number of interested parties. Spurs’ Spanish manager Juande Ramos recently failed in his bid to secure Diego Capel from his former club Sevilla as he looks to re-build his squad ahead of the new season. As a result, he has now turned his attentions on to the England international. Ramos could hold they key to any potential deal due to having a ready-made replacement in his armoury who he is prepared to offer to Rovers. Talented winger Aaron Lennon, who has good experience despite being aged just 23, has reportedly been told that he may be leaving White Hart Lane this summer as part of an exchange deal if Ramos is able to replace him. Meanwhile, Villa boss Martin O'Neill is highly likely to lose captain Gareth Barry to Liverpool this summer and is ready to spend the funds he is set to receive on Bentley as he prepares an all-England wing line-up with Ashley Young starring from the left. New Rovers boss Ince stated just moments after beginning his new job that his main intentions were to keep hold of Bentley and striker Roque Santa Cruz this summer before looking to make any additions to his squad.

Fair comment though Mike I think - I completely agree with you that not all of us have time to read all the sites, so thanks for summarising this one - i'm always interested in hearing about 'the next generation' of young villains, as i'm overseas and can't watch any of the reserve games.
