'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Villa Times - 23/06/2008

Unoial Villa News...

Wilfred Bouma, who last night saw Holland go out of the Euro's in a lacklustre game said he is now looking to help Villa push on next season: 'In my time here we have gone from 16th to 11th to sixth, which is a massive improvement. My performances have gone the same way as well and hopefully I can continue that after the summer.'

Monday's transfer rumours... Bit boring I'm afraid! Click Here

By Murph: Cristiano Ronaldo has none of it and Gareth Barry may be losing it as he becomes more influenced by Stevie G, however for Marlon Harewood, there`s loyalty in abundance as he admits he wants to stay on at Villa Park for next season. The former West Ham front-man had a fairly limited season, as he became a somewhat unwanted summer signing by Villa in a transfer window that promised everything, but didn`t give us that much. Paul Merson will be the star attraction at Villa Park as he returns to his former home this week for a special question and answer session. It will be an unmissable night of entertainment as the midfield maestro looks back at his glorious career in claret and blue. You will also be able to ask the former England man your own question. The event takes place this Thursday June 26 at 7pm in the Holte Suite. Tickets are £35 per person (includes a three-course meal). There will also be live comedy from the acclaimed stand-up Leslie Gibson. To book, contact 0800 612 0960.

By Vital Villan: David Platt has stood by his belief that Gareth Barry needs to move to a 'big club' to further his career, much like Michael Carrick??? Platt You Pratt!

John Carew told the official site that Villa want to carry on entertaining next season! 'We are pleased to have got sixth place - we thought we might have got fifth place but sixth it is and if you had offered us that at the start of the season, we would have been very happy. We will have a well earned break now and then we will be back in July and ready for Europe. We will relax our heads a bit and then be back and raring to go.' He also says the season was great for him and made him even more sure that he had made exactly the right move coming to Villa.

Has Freddie signed a new long term deal yet? Did I miss something while I was away? Or have the club merely taken up the twelve month option on his current deal? Cant think that Freddie is overly happy if its the latter.
