We finished Sixth, last season, why not concentrate on that than trying to crucify O'Neill?

I thought it was just a round up like.

Well that's the deadwood gone then (although i'd have liked to keep Cahill). It's the whole 25 out and 12 in that bothers me.

I think that's the whole point, PTP. It is just a round up, but on paper it does look pretty poor, doesn't it?

Thank God then that we play on grass and not paper then. We finished sixth you know.

No crucifications going on, this is just the list of transfers to date, it is a quiet period for news so thought we'd get this up and then it WILL be added to this summer!

I'm not denying that Skeggy. Do you think it looks good on paper? That was all I said.

Come to think of it, I believe we finished 6th under O'Dreary as well? Suppose that means he was doing a great job.

worth noting that not many more will leave this summer and hopefully a good 6 or 7 will join which will balance this up somewhat

also, the league was a different place when O'Dreary was manager. There were a lot less clubs with big bucks to spend. Ambition levels outside the tope few clubs were much lower

Got to laugh, it is only a list of transfers in and out and we can't even agree on them! lol O'Deary did finish 6th in his first year, Millwall beat us to Europe throught he FA Cup. He started ok, apart from the fact he was a **** ! His main problem was his player and fan relationships, he was rubbish at pr.

The loans counted when they played for us, so surely you have to list them?!

Yeah his PR was pretty bad. I didn't even know what fickle meant until I was called it by DOL. then I had to look it up. 'Characterized by erratic changeableness or instability, especially with regard to affections or attachments; capricious.' Then we went from 6th to something stupid like 16th. People read too much into this 6th place finish.

We were very lucky not to get releagted in DOL's last season. We had some really mediocre players that we've got off the wage bill.

And to be fair, we've brought in some more mediocre players. Wayne Routledge, Eric Lichaj, Moustapha Salifou, Agathe and Petrov to name a few.

If you look at the players in for the second season, they do look good value, Carson aside but he was loan anyway

Come on Vic squad players not first teamers, Routledge & Salfou haven't played yet - hopefully they should get an opportunity pre-season. No one likes Petrov! He has been rubbish most of the time though.

I don't see how you can complain about Salifou, Agathe, Lichaj and Routledge...they cost us next to nothing all totalled up, and apart from Agathe are players who could have potential in the future.

I haven't got any problem whatsoever with those sort of players coming in, I just wish there were more of the other kind as well, that's all.

i might be dense but don't get the figure above. OUTS phillips 700k berson 1mill whitts 250k hughes 1 mill davies 4 mill mccann 1 mill cahill 5 mill ridgewell 2 mill moore 3.5 mill TOTAL 18.5 INS Petrov 6.5 Young 9.7 Maloney 1.1 coker 8.5 routledge 1.5 knight 3.5 harewood 4.5 35 million 35 - 18.5 = 16.5 works out at 8.25 million per season. Have i done this wrong, someone tell me please. 8 million a season is in the words of o'neill 'splendid'. Compared to other teams around us i think we'v done pretty good didn't include c.davies as the deal isn't done yet. Also there are alot of clauses for all our young players sold which we'll improve that figure

God this is so funny, as much as DOL was a **** he was so right about us fans, we are just a little fickle!! No doubt some of the people complaining about the number of players released are the same ones who constantly criticised Ridgewell, Samuel, McCann, Hughes, etc. Yes the quantity of our squad has gone down but there can be no denying that the quality has gone up. I still say you can only have 11 players on the pitch so what's the point in having a 40 player squad. Minimising the numbers should allow us to buy better quality as there aren't 20 odd players picking up several grand a week and never earning it. Have faith in MON, his net spend is probably the lowest in the prem over the past 2 seasons so he's sort of proving that you don't need to blow 50m every transfer window to be successful but, to get that magical 4th spot or better he knows he is going to have to break open the piggy bank this year.

Agree Tarzan, if not for Barry in DOL's last season, we'd have been done and dusted in my opinion.

I think / hope Routledge will end up proving his doubters wrong, always liked him and I know a few Spurs fans who were sorry to see him go. If he gets his match fitness etc, we've a good player there! Not sure why this is being viewed as an anti MON thread or article, it was just listing the signings so far!

If someone else had called me fickle it wouldn't have been a problem. It's only because it was him it was difficult to take.

I like Petrov!!! There , i've said it!! I know he has been very ordinary most of his time at Villa, but when you take off your Petrov hating goggles you'll see that he aint quite as bad as some of you make out!! Sorry if my opinion upsets anyone, but there you go

I like Petrov myself, he seemed a decent chap when I spoke to him down Bodymoor. Just wish he was a bit better at football.

I personally think MON will not bring in as many players as we 'need' I think the kids will get their chance. Harry Forrester is a talented potential start of the future and long term replacement for GB?

Yes I do think O'Leary was good for us at first. At the time everyone else seemed to agree as well but it just got very stagnant very quickly

Forrester is an attacking midfielder or striker, from what I've read his best position is centre Midfield.
