Does Gareth Barry Deserve His Testimonial?

Does Gareth Barry Deserve His Testimonial?

Our latest poll has been suggested by Wayno.

He wants to know your opinion on the Gareth Barry issue and more importantly his testimonial.

So, does Gareth Barry deserve his testimonial?

Wayno said: 'I know thinks have been on the back burner for the time being but I would like to pose the question, After all he has been a loyal servant and deserves the chance to say goodbye properly – at the end of the season he looked embarrassed and the event was overshadowed by our farewell to Olly.
That said if it goes ahead I would like to see him donate a significant proportion of the income to acorns

Let me know what you think

Wouldn't be possible if he left. Fans wouldn't turn up surely? He does deserve a testimonial if the proceeds go to charity (which he hinted they would) but only really if he stays. Not because I'd hold any (or not much!) ill will for him departing, just I can't see that a player moving on would get enough fans of his former club wanting to go and cheer him on?

No player deserves a testimonial. They get paid extremely well for doing a job they love. After ten years of service at the local factory would you get any reward from the management? Barry is no different from any other player as in he gets a good salary already.

Of course if the funds went to charity it's a different matter.

Agreed footballers get paid too much nowadays it was different 20yrs ago,and if Barry moves on I cant see the fans turning up a shame because their are some deserving charities out there.
