Saturday's Aston Villa Transfer Rumours
Mostly re-hashed rumours today.
The Daily Mirror say Villa will bid for James Milner once Gareth Barry makes his move to Liverpool. Frankly that is hogwash, we don't need to sell in order to buy.
The Daily Express say that Martin O'Neill is 'leading the chase' for the signature of Chelsea's Shaun Wright-Phillips who reports yesterday claimed has been told he can leave Stamford Bridge. Villa have tried twice before to get the England winger.
The Express also say that we are in the frame to get Blackburn winger David Bentley but that his destination is more likely to be Chelsea or Tottenham.
The Guardian say that Villa are after Reading's Irish players striker Kevin Doyle and midfielder Stephen Hunt. Sunderland are also interested.
Whilst we are in Reading, we might as well cover the story in The Sun! They claim the Royals have warned would be suitors including Aston Villa, West Ham, Portsmouth and Newcastle that Nicky Shorey, who doesn't want to drop down a division, that he'll not be sold on the cheap and have a price of around £3.5million. Their director of football Nick Hammond has also confirmed that there have as yet been no offers for the full back.
The Telegraph have covered the rumour that Villa are set to bid around £6million for West Ham defender Anton Ferdinand with Spurs also interested.

Oh, and apparently there were some 'interesting' comments by Martin O'Neill acting as a pundit for the Croatia v Turkey game. I didn't hear what he said (trying to find out) but apparently there were hints of possible arrivals from one or other of those international teams. Will update or add it as an article comment if I get more details OR if you heard what he said, please do tell us all in the article comments!!!!!
Did I ever tell you that my auntie's cat is closely related to Ruud van Nistelrooy's cat? Anyway, they were talking yesterday and........ Just as likely as some of the press links surely?!

I think i've found the hint you were looking for JF, during the penalty shootout, they were analysing the penalties, they showed Modric fluffing his lines, and then went onto the second player Rakitic. Hansen said, "and here, this is a good player, Martin, Rakatic" to which MON replied "yeah, he looks as if he's going to be a good player". There was also a 'rumour' a couple of weeks back linking us to Rakitic, but this was posted by someone on a not very reliable football rumours website.....read into it what you will.

he was also stated that there are not many talented players in the Turkish team but the ones he did like were Arda, Mehmet and Hamit Altıntop - wouldnt read too much into that though. M'ON was also critisizing the defending of Sabri and Hansen mentioned he is available for 6mil but Oneil said he can only make an assessment on that game - something which he has already said regarding signing players from the Euros

yatesvilla are you referring to hooker hill in itaewon, or was that a random word guess. Gordonsleftboot stay away from the hill don't tarnish yourself. Altho its worth visit just for mr eggy! How many other villians are in korea? i'v left now but wanna return. Footy starts 12 at night the way entertainment should be bloody brilliant

If we are interested in Milner, as media reports suggest we are, surely now is the time to make our move, with Liverpool clearly cash-strapped? Lets not give the scousers time to get their act together.

would,nt mind millner ,swp not sure about bently does,nt come across as a mon player bit brash and sure of himself but there again is that a bad thing really do,nt know,please martin don,t bother with doyle or hunt we,ve been down this road b4 buying players from relegated sides and it dosen,t work also anton ferdinand no thanks now thats an ego
