Majority Say £20m Would Be Good Deal For Barry
Vital Villa asked if £20million for Gareth Barry was a good deal for Villa, Liverpool or both!
79% voted that it would be a good deal for Villa.
14% however think we should keep hold of him at all costs and voted 'awful for us, we should keep him.'
That left 4% saying a good deal for both, 2% a good deal for Liverpool and 1% who had no idea!
Our latest poll asks if the Steve Sidwell transfer (if completed) would be a good one for us.

Lads, surely we are being too harsh on GB? He has given Villa quality service over some very difficult times. Yes, I am very disappointed he wants to leave when things look on the up, but I am sure it was a VERY difficult decision for him. Sadly, in this day, the lure of that awful Champions League is massive. Players will not turn down the opportunity to play in it very often, and at 27 GB obviously fears it may be his only chance. Villa are pushing upwards, but how confident are you really of a top four finish in the next three seasons? 5th, 6th, Uefa/FA/Carling Cup...yes, but Champions League? We WILL face the same problem with Ashley Young before too long (but he is younger and has more time) especially if Ronaldo goes to Madrid. Give Gareth some leeway lads, I know we all very disappointed and he will be a loss, but he has been a tremendous player for us. Oh yeah, and we will make loads of money on him as well!

Still not convinced he's going anywhere. LFC can't / wont pay £20m. I can see this deal falling flat on its face as some papers are suggesting today. Now wouldn't that be funny and where would it leave poor old GB? I saw the David Villa not wanting to go to LFC story on SSN this morning and thought it was about GB. I soon realised my mistake.

Wonder if GB has thought about the high possibility that all his worldly possesions will get robbed whilst he is playing in the CL, like Riese, Gerrard (twice), Rafa, Reina, etc. If the deal falls through, then he's still a Villa player and a bloody good one at that and whilst he is in the shirt he will get my support. I don't think he has done anything wrong. Some folks are bitter because he has a chance to move on to bigger (?) better(?) things, and is looking at the option. I don't think it's a money issue, because he doesn't come across that way. I don't expect him to refuse to play for us if L'pool don't meet our value and the deal doesn't go through.

I think 20m would be massive money for Barry, I really dont see Liverpool paying more than around 15m. this is not meant to be a slight on Barry, I rate him highly, but at 28 he will have no resale value, which makes the deal a very expensive one for Liverpool, a club where money isnt exactly growing on trees.
