Villa In Battle For David Bentley?

England and Blackburn midfielder David Bentley has a host of clubs including Aston Villa, Spurs, Manchester City and Liverpool all apparently after his services following his announcement that he wants to leave Ewood Park.

The 23-year-old told Sky Sports News: 'I have made it clear to the club what I want to do. The situation is I want to move on. I want to be playing Champions League football, or in Europe. I want a new challenge. I believe I have done as much as I can at the club and want to push on somewhere else.' Adding, 'I owe them so much and I hope I’ve repaid them with the way I’ve played. I’ve been here for three years and I love the club but I feel like I’ve done everything I can. I want to move on and try to push up the ladder.'

Would be good to see us in the mix for him, one in one out still won't build the squad though! I can't see Liverpool having the funds, Manchester City certainly do so it would all depend on how well Bentley got on with his former Blackburn boss Mark Hughes. Spurs or Villa? Tough one, both have the money, both are ambitious, does the lad want to be further up north or does he fancy a return to the capital? Who knows....!

We must make a move for this player to show 1. Ambition 2. Mean Business 3. Outlay our intentions to our rivals!!!

If we are interested? Because apparently we are after everyone. Only the papers forgot to tell MON. If it is true and it's a choice between us spuds and that chubby spanish bloke, then i hate to say it but he won't be coming to villa. L'pool are in the champions league but are skint. Spuds though are in europe and they have been busy this transfer window. They've put their money where their mouth is and shown their intentions. Whereas at villa park we're still running from the bullies in liverpool who are trying to steal are best sweets. Then there is his old boss at Man C. I think i know which is the more appealing to any potential new players. MON has got to get used to these windows and nail his targets early.

I dont think we will a) go for him or b) get him. He hasnt got pace which is MON big criteria for the wings. Whether he could play CM like Barry remains to be seen. would imagine we would go for Milner or SWP ahead of him tho. Liverpool will not be able to afford him he will go to City or Spurs maybe Pompy if they decide they want him.

I would certainly like to see MON go after him. He has plenty of pace, and crosses a beautiful ball. Bentley on the right would make a perfect counterpart to Young on the left. I don't see any of the top three going after him because ManU and Chelsea have depth on the right and I can't imagine him returning to Arsenal. Pool should be after him with both barrels, but there's no indication that they are and they will be strapped for cash if they continue to pursue Barry. I can't see him going to Spurs because they already have Lennon - I guess they could shift him to the left or Bentley to the center, but both are less natural fits. ManCity are definite possibilities if he would like to link up with the old boss. Pompey have bags of depth in the middle. Dunno, looks like Villa and City make the most sense if Pool continue to hunt Barry. I would love to see him in the claret and blue.

So we won`t get bentley because HE wants champions league football-1-What has he ever done to make him out of our league.2-Just because wants champions league fotball doesn`t mean champions league teams want him.The funny thing about human beings is that if someone says they are top draw enough times a lot of people will just swallow it and accept it.

i dont think we will get him because he will be offered more money at other teams, like city, portsmouth, west ham, tottenham and the top four. also we don't seen to by the bast players from good teams, but rather players that arn't getting a game. which is completly frustrating but the way it seems to be. thats not to say that we couldn't get him if we just started to spend a bit more like those other teams.

I hope MON has gone in for him and I know I am bias but I think Villa is his best option: Spurs have a lot of players who play his position and have a record of buying a star one season replacing him the next so he might not get long term football. Liverpool have no money and Man City and Liverpool are both having trouble at the top with their owners, I give Hughes half a season before he starts to get rosted by the chairman and one season befor he's sacked. But Villa have no such troubles. I dont think it will happen though.

Villa is definitely his best option! Spurs are simply using their current financial status to buy players left right and centre, whilst Villa are takig their time and are biulding a squad for the future. Bentley would be a fantastic signing, a quality player, adding much to our current team. Come on MON, get up close and personal with him, and he'll soon see what is best for his career!!!
